Services for Marvin Edward Ladd, 86, of Providence, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2004, at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence. Burial followed in the Christian Church Cemetery, where U.S. Military rites were performed.

Mr. Ladd died at 9:58 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

He was a small business owner and had worked for the State Highway Department. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church, member of Jaycees, former Providence City Councilman, Disable Veterans Association, and a World War II veteran.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Ladd Zachem of Lexington; a sister, Eula Clem of Truman, AR; his caregiver, Janice Teague of Providence; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and newphews.
