REBECCA A. LADD

CLOVERDALE -- Funeral services for Rebecca A. Ladd, 63, of Cloverdale, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mandale Church of Christian Union, Mandale, the Rev. Donald Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Cascade Cemetery, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, and from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church.

Mrs. Ladd was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Van Wert to Eugene and Marcile (Gause) Akom. She married William Martin Sr. on Oct. 17, 1953, and he died Sept. 23, 1963. She married Richard Ladd on July 6, 1965, and he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Dale and William Martin Jr., both of Cloverdale; a daughter, Mrs. Delbert (Debra) Watkins, Ottawa; five grandchildren; three brothers, Donald and Richard Akom, both of Scott, Daniel Akom, address unknown; and three sisters, Mary Lou Tarlton, Scott, Jean Brubaker, Columbus Grove, Frances Birkemeier, Kalida.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, James and Maurice Akom, John Albright; two sisters, Dorothy Vaught, Jean Mullen; a daughter, Stacey Ladd; and a grandchild.

Mrs. Ladd served as mayor of Cloverdale from 1984-97 and was elected to Cloverdale Village Council in 1998. She formerly worked at Ottawa Food Processing and Libby's of Leipsic.

She was a member, past president and past vice president of Cloverdale Community Club, former member of the Putnam County Mayors Association and Ohio Mayors Association.

Mrs. Ladd, who was a member of Mandale Church of Christ Union, was a volunteer at Paradise Oaks Nursing Home and Cloverdale Free Food Commodities, and served as past chairwoman for Mental Health Association.
