Sarah Elizabeth Elledge, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Nancy Griffey Ladd, was born at Lutesville, Missouri, August 10, 1879 and died at Dexter, Missouri, July 29, 1967 at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 20 days.

Mrs. Elledge had spent most of her life in the Lutesville Community. She had been in failing health the past six years and had been a patient in a nursing home in Dexter. Early in life she became affiliated with the Little Valley General Baptist Church near Lutesville and remained a member until her death.

On June 11, 1899 she was married to Robert Fisher Elledge and to this union 8 children were born. Her husband preceded her in death in 1928. One child died in infancy, one son Levi died in 1928 and one daughter, Mrs. Lucy Lilley died in 1966. Surviving are 5 children: Sherman Elledge of Lutesville, Missouri; Homer Elledge of Kingsford Heights, Ind.; Mrs. Elma Chadd of Granite City, Illinois; Mrs. Ethel Crites of Essex, Missouri; and Rev. W. R. Elledge of Dexter, Missouri; 2 step children: Dorman Elledge of Lutesville, Missouri and Mrs. Cora Crites of Kingsford Heights, Indiana, 33 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren, also other relatives and many friends survive to mourn her death.

Friends could call at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter until Monday, July 31, 1967 when at 2:00 pm funeral services were conducted in the Watkins and Sons Chapel with Rev. Curtis Eaker of Poplar Bluff, officiating. Burial was in the Baker Cemetery at Lutesville, Missouri.
