The ancient family of Case had its seat in Aylesham, England, where they were a noted
family as far back as the time of Oliver Cromwell. They accumulated their fortunes
by furnishing leather for Cromwell’s army, being tanners and farmers.


        (1)  John Case, born about 1591 in England, died in Connecticut; married in England Elizabeth Purchase, born about 1593 in Gravesend, Kent, England in Eng.  Parents of:
 
 
 

        (2)  John Case, born about 1616 in Aylesham, England, died 21 February 1703/1704 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Connecticut; married about 1657 in Hartford, Hartford Co., Connecticut, Sarah Spencer, born March 1635/1636 in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, daughter of William Spencer, Esq., and Agnes Harris of Hartford, Connecticut.  He resided in Windsor, Connecticut until the spring of 1669 when he removed to Massacoe, now Simsbury, and settled in Weatogue. Sarah died 3 November 1691 age 55 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Connecticut, and he married second Elizabeth, died 23 July 1728 age 90, Windsor, Connecticut, widow of Nathaniel Loomis, Windsor, Connecticut, and daughter, supposedly, of John Moore of Windsor. John Case was appointed constable for Massacoe by the General Court, 14 October 1669, being the first person that ever held office at that place. He represented Massacoe at the General Court in 1670 and several times after.

  3. John, born 5 November 1662 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Connecticut, died 22 May 1733 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Connecticut; married first on 12 September 1684 Mary Olcott; married second on 8 November 1771 Elizabeth Owen.
  4. William, born 5 June 1665 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Connecticut, died 31 March 1700 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Connecticut; married in 1688 Elizabeth Holcomb.
  5. Samuel, born 1 June 1667 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Connecticut, died 30 July 1725 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., Connecticut.
