Farley,
born in Ireland about 1800 or before, died between 1840 and 1848 in Mallorytown
Landing, Town of Yonge, Leeds Co., Ontario, Canada. Traditional stories
passed down two branches of the family tell that John was a coachman for
the family of his well-to-do wife, Mary,
born about 1801 in Ireland, who belonged to an aristocratic or noble family
that did not approve of their marriage. In Ontario, he was a farmer.
Children:

born about 1820 in Ireland; supposedly, he got into trouble in Ireland so
his parents dressed him up as a girl and smuggled him out of the country.
By 1848, when John was 28, he had married Eliza, born about 1828, and they
removed to the United States.
- Ann, born
about 1824 in either Ireland or Canada, died 14 Jun 1885, age 61, buried in
Orleans Corners Cemetery, Orleans, Jefferson Co., New York; married Alonzo
Cheney,
probably a brother of her brother-in-law George.
Alonzo died about 1851 and Ann took her family to the U.S. prior to the 1871
census of Ontario. Parents of:

Cheney, born about 1845 in Mallorytwon. In the 1861 census of Mallorytown,
he was living with his uncle John Farley, Jr. He is probably the John "Chaney",
age 34, born in New York to a father from New York and a mother from Ireland,
who was enumerated in the 1880 cenus sof Town of Orleans, with wife Elizabeth,
age 42, born in Canada to Canadian parents, with the following children:

born about 1863 in Canada.
- Anna Chaney,
born about 1865 in New York.
- John Chaney,
born about 1867 in New York.
- George Chaney,
born about 1870 in New York.
- Julia Chaney,
born about 1872 in New York.

born about 1877 in New York.

about 1879 in New York.
- Margaret
Rosetta Cheney, born about 1849 in Mallorytown. In the 1861 census of Mallorytown,
she was living with her uncle, John Farley, Jr. She married second
John B. Miller, son of John Miller & Louisa Thibodeau, and resided in
the Town of Orleans, Jefferson Co., New York. By her first marriage
to a Mr. Snell she had one daughter:
- Hattie
Snell; married Charles M. Walter of the Town of Orleans, Jefferson Co.,
New York. Parents of:
- Eva
S. Walter.
- Willis
Walter.
- Ann
Cheney, born about 1849 in Mallorytown; married Mr. Timmerman, and resided
in the Town of Orleans, Jefferson Co., New York.
- William
Cheney, born about 1851 in Mallorytown, died before 14 June 1885.
- Alonzo
E. Cheney, born 1858 in Mallorytown, died 1931 in Theresa, Jefferson Co.,
New York in 1931, age 73, a resident of the Town of Alexandria, Jefferson
Co., New York. Father of:
- Howard
Alonzo Cheney, a dentist who practised in Yonkers, New York. Father
of:
- Esther
Evelyn Cheney.
- Mary,
born about 1831 in either Ireland or Canada, died 1910; married Uriah Schwerdfeger,
born about 1830, died 1903, age 73. Parents of:
- John
Schwerdfeger, died between 1877 and 1881 in Mallorytown; married Mary Ann
Hodge. Parents of:
- Dulmer
Schwerdfeger, born about 1878 in Mallorytown, died 1891, age 13.
- James
Schwerdfeger, born about 1856 in Mallorytown.
- Ambrose
Schwerdfeger, born in Mallorytown, died in 1943; married Bertha Carroll.
Parents of:
- Edith
Schwerdfeger.

- Mary
Alice Schwerdfeger, born in Mallorytown, died in 1937; married John W. Brown,
born 1867 in Mallorytown, died 1959, age 92. Parents of:
- Luella
Brown; married Mr. Herbison.

born about 1831 or 1836 either in Ireland or Canada; married George
Cheney
of Mallorytown, born about 1829 in the United States, according to the 1871
Census of Ontario, died about 1891, age was 62.
