(1) William Goodrich of Hegesset, County Suffolk, England, born about 1575, died 1631/1632; will dated 4 April 1631, proved 2 February 1631/1632.  Father of:

3. Henry, probably died before his father; not mentioned in father's will but mentioned in brother John's will

        (2) John Goodrich, died 1632 in England; he inherited all houses, lands, and tenements in Hegesset and was executor of his father's will.  He married Margerie.

Children:

1. William Goodrich, born in England, probably in or near Bury St. Edmunds, County Suffolk, son of John, born 1632; came to America probably at the same time as his brother John.  The first entry on the Connecticut Records relative to him is that of his marriage on 4 October 1648 to Sarah Marvin of Hartford.  He was not admitted a freeman of Connecticut until 15 May 1656, and was probably younger than his brother John.  He was deputy from Wethersfield in the General Court held at Hartford 15 May 1662 and also one of the grand jury.  He is officially mentioned in the Colonial Records of Connecticut, Vol. II, p.17:  "Mr. Samuel Wells is confirmed in the place and office of Lieutenant to ye Train Band of Wethersfield, and William Goodrich, Ensigne."  He was in the General Assembly at Hartford 11 May 1663.  He was also called "Ensign William Goodrich" in 1676, just after the close of King Philip's War.  William died 1676 and his widow married Capt. William Curtiss of Stratford, Connecticut where she died in 1702.

Bailey, born 30 May 1778 in Wethersfield, Hartford Co., Massachusetts, moved as a young boy to Sandisfield, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts, died 1838 in Jefferson Co., New York.  Bailey was educated in the common schools, and at the age of 22 years married Eunice Smith, of Sandisfield, by whom he had four sons and four daughters.  They removed from Massachusetts, first, to Turin, Lewis Co. New York, then to Denmark, in the same county, and in 1819 located in Orleans, Jefferson Co., New York.  Bailey may have been associated with Asa Manley of Hounsfield, since they were both from Sandisfield, and Asa married a Goodrich woman.

8. Nelson, born 10 November 1816 in Denmark, Lewis Co., New York, and removed to Orleans, Jefferson Co., New York, when very young. He was educated in the common schools, with three terms in high schools in different places. In 1838, at the age of 22 years, he married Catharine Snell, of the town of Theresa, Jefferson Co., New York.  They were married more than 50 years.  Parents of the following children, born in Lafargeville, Orleans, Jefferson Co., New York:

David Goodrich, born 4 May 1667, died 23 June 1755, resided in Wethersfield, Connecticut.  He married first, 7 March 1689, Hannah Wright, born 10 March 1671, died 27 April 1698, daughter of Thomas Wright, Jr. and Elizabeth Chittenden.  He married second 1 December 1698, Prudence Churchill, daughter of Benjamin Churchill and Mary, born 2 July 1678, died 9 May 1752.  Benjmain was son of Josiah Churchill and Elizabeth Foote, daughter of Nathaniel Foote and Elizabeth Deming.

2. Elizur, born 1761, died 1849, a U.S. Congressman from 1799 to 1801; married Anne Williard Allen.  Parents of:
1. Chauncey Allen Goodrich, born 1790, died 1860; married Frances Juliana Webster, born 1793, daughter of Noah Webster, Compiler of Webster's Dictionary.
2. William the Younger, a clergyman, died in Hegesset, and willed property to the sons of his brothers William and John
3. John Goodrich, born in or near Bury St. Edmunds, County Suffolk, England; came to America and first appears on the Collection Records of Connecticut (Hartford) 10 November 1643.  He was juryman 4 December 1645, 4 March 1646, 7 September 1648.  He held lands at Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1644.  He married first about 1645, Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Edwards.  Elizabeth died 5 July 1670 and he married second in April 1674, Mary Foote, born 1623, widow of John Stoddard and daughter of Nathaniel Foote and Elizabeth Deming.  John died in Wethersfield in April 1680 and his widow, Mary, married Lt. Thomas Tracy of Norwich, Connecticut.
