(1) Ozias Goodwin
was born 1596 in Bocking, Essex Co., England, and died before April 1683
in Hartford, Hartford Co., Connecticut. He married Mary,
daughter of Robert Woodward.
Ozias had older brother, William, born about 1591, probably in Essex Co.,
England, died 11 March 1673, in Farmington, Hartford Co., Connecticut,
who arrived in Boston, 16 September 1632, on the ship Lyon.
William married for his second wife, Susan Garbrand, widow of the Rev.
Thomas Hooker.
Children:
(2) William Goodwin
was born 1629 in England, and died 15 October1689 in Hartford, Hartford
Co., Connecticut. He married Susanna
Fruen.
William was appointed chimney viewer in 1662, 1665 and 1671. On 29 December
1676 the town voted him to sweep the meetinghouse and ring the bell on
Sabbaths and at public meetings. He was given seven pounds per annum. He
was also to dig graves and warm the public meetings, "as the Townsmen shall
appoint."
Children:
(3) Nathaniel Goodwin, a shoemaker by trade, died November 1747 in Hartford, Hartford Co., Connecticut. He married Mehetable Porter, daughter of Samuel Porter and Hannah Stanley.
