        (1)  Edward Hutchinson was born about 1555 and lived in Alford, Lincolnshire, England. He died 14 Feb 1631 in Alford. He married about 1585, Susanna. His widow traveled to New England with her daughter Mary and her husband Reverend John Wheelwright. She died in Wells, York County, Maine in 1645/46.

         (2) William Hutchinson, was christened 14 August 1586 in Alford, Lincolnshire, England. He married in London on 9 August 1612 Anne Marbury, the daughter of Rev. Francis Marbury and Bridgett Dryden, a descendant of King Edward I of England. They resided in Alford until 1634 when they emigrated to New England, residing first in Boston, Massachusetts. After 1637, when his wife was excommunicated and banished they removed to Newport, Rhode Island. Anne was the "leader" of the Antimonian Controversy and much is written of her in contemporary, as well as colonial history. William died about 1642. His widow moved to Pelham Bay, Long Island, New York and along with other family members was massacred by the Indians in September, 1643.  Today, Anne's statue (at right) is one of four guarding the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

        (3)  Edward Hutchinson was christened on 28 May 1613 in Alford, Lincolnshire, England. He emigrated to New England before his parents and was received into membership of the First Church at Boston on 10 August 1634. He returned to England and married Catherine Hamby, the daughter of Robert Hamby and Elizabeth Arnold, 13 October 1636 at Ipswich, Suffolk, England. Edward and Katherine returned to Boston where he sided with his mother during the Antinomian Controversy. He removed to Rhode Island with his mother's banishment but later returned to Boston. He strongly opposed the persecution of the Quakers. Katherine died about 1650 in Boston and he married secondly, Abigail Vermais, the widow of Robert Button. Edward was a captain in the colonial militia, he died 2 August 1675 during King Phillip's War in an ambush near Marlborough, Massachusetts. Abigail died 10 August 1689.

  4. Ann, born 17 November 1643, Boston, Suffolk Co., Mass; christened First Church of Boston 19 November 1643; married Samuel Dyer, 17 November 1663; married second, Daniel Vernon; died 10 January 1716, Newport, Rhode Island.
  5. William, christened 18 November 1645, First Church of Boston; died in infancy.
  6. William, born 17 January 1646, Boston, Suffolk Co., Mass.; died young.
