        (1)  Thomas Newell, born about 1612 in Hertfordshire, England, died 13 September 1689; emigrated to America before 1640 and married about 1642 Rebecca Olmstead.  Thomas Newell was an early settler of Hartford, and an original settler of Farmington in 1640. Rebecca Olmstead was a niece of James Olmstead, with whom she came from England in the Lyon.

  2. Hannah, born 1656, baptized 14 April 1658, died 4 November 1757; married Thomas North, born 1649, died 1712 in Northington (now Avon), Connecticut.
  3. Joseph, died 1689.
  4. Rebekah, born January 1642/1643.
  5. Mary, born March 1644/45; married Thomas Bascomb.
  6. John, born January 1646/1647, died 1696.
  7. Thomas, born 2 March 1649/1650 in Southington, Connecticut, died 25 October 1723.
  8. Hester, born July 1652, died 29 January 1738/1739; married 18 November 1679 John Stanley.
  9. Sarah, born before 18 February 1654/1655; married Arthur Smith.
  10. Samuel, born before 5 December 1660 in Farmington, Hartford Co., Connecticut, died 15 February 1753.
