        (5)  Sir Robert Stapleton, Kinght, born about 1548 in Wighill, Yorkshire, England, buried at Wighill on 3 October 1606; married Catherine Constable, born at Everingham, Yorkshire Co., England, died about 1580. Robert was Sheriff of Yorkshire, M.P. for Yorkshire, and eldest surviving son of his parents.  After Catheirne died, he married about 1584 Olive Sherington, widow of John Talbot, of Shalwarpe, Worcestershire, England (died 1583), and daughter and co-heiress of Henry Sherington, Knight, of Lacock, Wiltshire, by his wife Ann Paget.
        Sir Robert was described as "a gentleman for person, address, and skill in languages, [who] had no superior in England nor equal, except Sir Philip Sydney," and Queen Elizabeth is said to have recommended him to Olive Talbot as a suitable bridegroom.  His court career was ruined by a "spectacular quarrel with Edwin Sandys, archbishop of York," (and friend of William Brewster, a staff member of Elizabeth's court).  Olive was residing as a widow in Lacock Abbey in 1634.  Robert and Catherine were the parents of:
 
 
 

        (6)  Phillip Stapleton, Gentleman of Milford and Bilton near Wetherby, was born about 1578 at Bilton, Yorkshire Co., England, died about 27 January 1618/1619 (the date of his estate administration) in Yorkshire Co., England; married on 1607 presumably at Sherburn in Elmet, Yorkshire Co., England, Dorothy Hill, baptized 3 May 1587 at Pannall, died after 1628, daughter of William Hill, died before 1608, and his wife Ann.  After Phillip died, Dorothy and her daughter moved to the parish of All Saint's in the city of York.  In 1628, she married John Twisleton at Everingham.  Phillip and Dororthy Stapleton were the parents of:

  1. Dorothy, baptized 11 August 1608 at Pannall, Yorkshire, England, buried 27 September 1637 in Rowley, Yorkshire, England; married 17 January 1626/1627 at All Saint's on North Street in York, Yorkshire Co., England, Thomas Nelson, Gentleman, born about 1601 in Cottingham, Yorkshire, England, died 6 August 1648 in Chicknell, North Stoneham, Southampton, England.
