One of the mines he worked in broke up rocks for the road building near Cameron. Grandpa Harry was an auto mechanic too, and a very good one. He owned his own garage and had a body and fender shop. Do you suppose his middle name was May because he was born in May? Interesting that he also died in May. His sister Della died a few days before he did, so a double funeral was held. Uncle Dean says that Harry was born in Tarkio, Missouri. He also says to look in Aneheim, Germany for Souders family. He served in the military and was stationed there. She remembers that she never dared to disappoint her father because she could never forget the look in his eyes when she met with his approval. It was a wonderful twinkle. That was the only look she wanted to see. I have met her brother recently and he has that same twinkle in his blue eyes. She recalls her most wonderful times spent with her grandmother Cashett. She taught mom many things and always took her to church with her. As my mother, she was always there when I was young to be room mother for our classrooms, help with girls clubs, plan birthday parties, take us to church, make new dresses, fix my hair, take us to the swimming pool, whatever we needed. She was a super mom in the nineties vernacular. She is a fabulous cook and seamstress. She is very frugal and spends her time wisely. She loves the Lord and prays for her children daily that they will have success in their lives and love the Lord also. She taught me to cook and sew and clean and work hard and always do my best. Everything she encouraged her children to do, she tried to learn also. When we took dancing lessons, she was there trying all the steps with us and doing much better. The same with piano lessons, she practiced along with us. My sister, Renee, was her proudest success as she went on to be a composer and wonderful musician, including teaching music to her own children and many others. She stayed home with us till we were in high school, then she got real brave and decided to go out and try the work force. She worked at a pharmacy, a department store as a salesperson, then in the bookkeeping dept. She was assistant Credit Manager at the Emporium and Credit Manager at a Furniture Store. I think it was very fulfilling for her to succeed that way. Mom is learning how to use her new, used, or previously owned, computer. She has encountered many problems in the learning that have helped her learn how to use it and also frustrated her greatly. Year 2000 now and mom has had surgery on her shoulder. An injury was received when she took a bad fall while working as a census taker. She is recovering well and has a brand new computer now. Comments on mom's birth certificate, the doctor that delivered her was Dr.W. L. Chaffin, called Dr. Bill, and was a family friend of grandad Cashatt.
