Piper of Jackson Twp. has recently torn down the old Goben Hotel in Spring Hill, and will build himself and wife on the site where it stood. The Goben Hotel was built in the early ante-bellum days by Levi F. Goben. It probably was nearly seventy years old. Mr. Goben settled in Jackson township in 1833 and built this hotel soon after locating there. The building was a two-story frame, Goben having hewn out every timber and every board used in its construction.
