George MARSHALL was born about 1824 in Ohio. He died before 1880. He built a water powered grist mill known as Marshall's Mill on Shoal Creek, north of Catawba in Caldwell County. The mill was located one mile east of Haun's Mill and was built a number of years after the military defeat of the Mormons at Haun's Mill.

This family moved from West Virginia to Indiana in 1864 and from there to near Lock Springs, Daviess Co., Missouri in the fall of 1870.
