The name appears to have been Hearnden, Herndell, etc, but became established as Harrington by the third generation in New England. The author's 8th Great-Grandfather
Eary Providence Records: "William White of Boston, bricklayer, with consent of wife of Elizabeth, for sterling, "payd by Elizabeth the wife of Benjamin Herenden of providence" confirmed to Benjamin land, dwelling house, and other housing in Providence on 16 O ctober 1662." 4:9-10
17 February 1659, Benjamin Hearnden (Harrington) was charged with "breach the peace and fright committed on the family of William White of this towne"

Benjamin married Elizabeth White, daughter of William White and Elizabeth White*, on 9 Jul 1647. (Elizabeth White was born about 1630 and died after Dec 1701.)
