have taken place 21 Oct 1917 - the first marriage ceremony to have been performed

church building. His obituary gives his year of marriage as 1918, but the dedication
date of the building is well-documented to have been September 30, 1917; and
the church record is clearly in 1917. Carolena M RUST10 (daughter of (Father of Carolena

at the St. John Lutheran church in Buckley for Mrs. Caroline Krumwiede, 56, who
died Monday, June 15 at the Paxton Community hospital, where she had been a patient
for nine weeks.
She was born October 11, 1897 in Buckley and was married there October 21, 1916
[this marriage is well-documented to have taken place 21 Oct 1917] to Alvin
Krumwiede, who survives. Surviving children are Armand, who recently returned
from Korea because of his mother's illness, and Arlon of Kankakee. Two grandchildren
survive, and a daughter, Mrs. Augusta Lammers preceded her in death.**
Five sisters survive. They are Mrs. Elizabeth Nieman, Mrs. Anna Lammers, Mrs.
Mathilda Kottke, all of Buckley, and Mrs. Bertha Korlick of Chicago. Two brothers,
John Rust of Buckley and Frank Rust of Kankakee, survive.
The deceased was a member of St. John's Lutheran church in Buckley, and of the
American Legion auxiliary No. 432.
The Rev. Walter Eissfeldt was in charge of services and burial was in St. John
cemetery.
** This may be an error. Carolena had a sister Augusta, according to an obituary
for one of the parents, but I cannot locate my copy at the moment. This obituary
gives her a daughter Augusta Lammers AND a sister Anna Lammers. This needs further
investigation.
