Fourth Generation
75. Emma HILGENDORF
was born on 17 Aug 1881. The Hilgendorf Family Records give a date
of birth of August 14 She was ill with typhoid in Sep 1895.109,207,208
Sept. 6, 1895 - Miss Emma Hilgendorf also a typhoid fever patient whom Dr. Bossert
treats is quite sick, but happily the doctor thinks she is over the worst and
has a good chance for recovery.
Sept. 13, 1895 - Emma Hilgendorf's fever is broken, we hear, but her lungs are
now affected. In her weak condition this turn is serious, but the doctor still
has good hopes of her recovery.
Sept. 20, 1895 - Emma Hilgendorf, whose death was feared, is out of danger and
fast improving.
Oct. 4, 1895 - ...Emma Hilgendorf will soon be able to be up and out and free
from the doctor's care.
8 Nov 1895 - Miss Emma Hilgendorf made her first trip to church last Sunday,
after a protracted illness of several weeks' duration.
She died on 4 May 1932. The Hilgendorf Family Records give a date
of death of March 9 She was buried in May 1932 in Dowagiac, Michigan.209 This record was modified on
30 Mar 2003. Because both the Hilgendodrf and Steinmann family records
showed a marriiage date of Oct. 17, 1900, I have changed our records to reflect
that date. Emma HILGENDORF and Edward F STEINMANN were married on 17 Oct 1900.210 The church record reads: 17
Oct: Edward Steinmann to Emma Hilgendorf, by Blanken." We had a wedding
date of 23 Aug 1900. Since both the Steinmann Family and Hilgendorf Family Records,
as well as the church records, show a marriage date 17 Oct 1900, I have changed
our records to reflect that date. Edward F STEINMANN
(son of Friedrich STEINMANN and Louise HACHMEISTER) was born on 17 Jul 1873 in
Bensenville, Illinois.53
He was in the news in 1917.115
In renewing his subscription for the Chronicle for several years, Mr. E.F. Steinmann
took occasion to give us a brief account of life in Michigan. Mr. Steinmann and
family are well pleased with their new home, but certainly have not forgotten
Buckley, nor will they. They frankly admit that, and wish they could, at least,
pass the holidays here.
He died on 18 Apr 1947 in Cassapolis, Michigan.116,117,118
