He appeared in the census in 1880 in Artesia Township, Iroquois County, Illinois. He appears as the nine-year-old son of Henry Krumwiede on Film Number T9-0213, page 13B He was in the news in 1895.72

25 Sep 1895 From the Buckley Chronicle: Will Krumwiede has a horse. It can run faster than Will. We know whereof we speak.

4 Oct. 1895 -- The landlord of the Columbia and his lady were forced to go begging the first of the week. No bread could be had in Buckley, so they drove to Loda to receive the reply, we have none.

11 Oct 1895 - Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Krumwiede made a trip to Clifton Saturday and returned Sunday evening.

25 Oct 1895 -- Will Krumwiede is enlarging his hotel accommodation by having a number of new bed rooms built. The business of the Columbia is very good and picking up.

8 Nov 1895 -- Will Krumwiede hs put up a new coal shed.

15 Nov 1895 -- Landlord Krumwiede is giving his inn a coat of paint, thereby very much improving the looks of the same.

18 Dec 1895 - "Columbia" has a vestibule now. "Uncle Willie" is an enterprising young fellow.

Friend Skeeters: I am handing you an old will drawn by Wm. Krumwiede a good many years ago. So far as I know, he has never made any other, hence I will forward same to you for attention.
I am of the opinion his property is entirely gone and a will almost useless.
At the present time his wife and one of their sons Arthur Krumwiede is located at Detroit Michigan, address is 2247 Leslie Avenue.
He has one other son, at Kankakee I think at present.
They are the only heirs.

William Krumwiede of the Village of Buckley, in the County of Iroquois and State of Illinois made and published the 29th day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Nine.

William Krumwiede of the Village of Buckley in the County of Iroquois and State of Illinois, of the age of 38 years, and being of sound mind and memory, do hereby make, publish and declare this my LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT in manner following, that is to say:

FIRST -- It is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debt be fully paid.
SECOND -- I Give and bequeath to my wife Bertha Krumwiede the use of all my property be it personal property or real estate for the term of her natural life unless she again married. She is to have full use of all my property and may invest it by loaning it upon good security. If she remarries or at her death all my property of what ever nature is to pass to my children directly, share and share alike.
LASTLY -- I hereby nominate and appoint (this area is blank) to be the Executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In witness Whereof: I have hereunto set my had and sea, the 29th day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Nine.

Document was "Deposited 2-5-29 " (apparently a date affixed by the attorney to whom the will was forwarded). He was employed an innkeeper in Buckley, Iroquois County, Illinois in 1922. He was the owner of the Krumwiede Hotel, which may or may not have been a new name for the Columbia, which is mentioned in earlier newspaper articles. He was in the news in 1922.29

10 Nov 1922-Mr. Wm. Krumwiede and son Arthur motored over from Bloomington Wednesday, and remained here over night. Thursday the two proceeded to Hoopseston. They intend to open a first class shoe store at Hoopeston.

Though the person who printed this microfilm page neglected to print the date portion of the page, an ad at the top of the page is dated Dec. 1, 1902

8 Dec 1922 - Mrs. Wm. Krumwiede and son Franklin, motored over from Bloomington Wednesday and visited relatives and friends here till Sunday afternoon.

He died on 13 Jan 1929 in Detroit, Michigan.74

William Krumwiede
William Krumwiede, a former member of our congregation, passed away early Sunday morning, Jan. 13, (1929), at Detroit, Mich., at the age of 58 years and 1 day. His death was caused by heart disease. It was his desire to be laid to rest where he spent his whole life (except the last eight years) and where his parents are laid to rest, so his remains were brought to Buckley Tuesday, Jan. 15, to be interned in the St. John's cemetery. Funeral services were held at the church on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. The deceased was born at Buckley, Jan. 12, 1871, in 1894 he was married to Miss Bertha Ferdina, his surviving widow. This union was blessed with two sons, Arthur and Franklin, both of Michigan. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church by Rev. Blanken. His departure is mourned by his bereaved widow, two sons, one daughter-in-law, two grand children, three brothers, three sisters and many other relatives and friends. Rev. Braeunig officiated at both funerals. May he rest in peace.

William Friedrich KRUMWIEDE and Bertha FERDINA were married on 18 Nov 1894 in St. John's Lutheran Church (LCMS), Buckley, Illinois.75 The church record reads: "William Krumwiede to Bertha Ferdina 18 Nov." Bertha FERDINA (daughter of John FERDINA and Wilhelmina JOHANNSEN) was born on 17 Sep 1872 in Papineau, Illinois.10 (Her obituary gives her year of birth as 1873, though her tombstone clearly says 1872.) She died on 9 Feb 1952 in Buckley, Iroquois County, Illinois.76

Bertha Krumwiede dies at Buckley; Funeral Monday
Mrs. Bertha Krumwiede, 78, died Saturday morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Clara Gross in Buckley. Mrs. Krumwiede, who has been residing with her sister, died in her sleep.
Born Sept. 17, 1873 [her tombstone gives a year of birth as 1872] at Papineau, she was the daughter of John and Wilhelmina Johannsen Ferdina. She came to Buckley with her parents when she was two years old. She was married at Buckley to William Krumwiede, who died in January, 1929.
Two sons survive, Arthur Krumwiede of Seattle, Wash., and Frank Krumwiede of Springfield. Also surviving are three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Gross, Buckley, and Mrs., Tillie Marr, Urbana; two brothers, Arnold H. Ferdina of Kansas City, Mo., and Henry J. Ferdina, Wolf Point Montana. Six brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Buckley, with Rev. W. Eissfeldt officiating. Burial was in St. John's cemetery under the direction of Kelley Funeral Home.

She was buried on 11 Feb 1952 in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Buckley, Illinois.19,53 Section B, Row 27, Plot 15 William Friedrich KRUMWIEDE and Bertha FERDINA had the following children:
