Walter, together with Charley Klann, is credited with naming the Dutchmasters
baseball team of Buckley, which plays in the Eastern Illinois League. Walter
George KRUMWIEDE and Cathryn Louise WAGNER were married on 7 Apr 1917.152 The following paragraph was
included in handwritten notes, source unknown: They were married during World
War I. My mother was asked by Uncle Walter, and she got him a blind date with
one of her friends -- Aunt Kathryn. Cathryn Louise WAGNER
(daughter of Henry WAGNER and Elizabeth ZEHNDER) was born on 13 Jul 1897 in Hammond,
Indiana.153 She was baptized
on 8 Aug 1897 in St. Joseph Church, Hammond. Sponsors were Peter
Terre and Catherin Heimbach. She died pf pancreatitis on 30 Aug 1979 in Elkhart,
Indiana.154
Mrs. Walter Krumwiede
Mrs. Kathryne Louise Krumwiede, 82, 250 E. Bristol, Apartment B-22, Elkhart,
died Thursday evening at 5:40 in Elkhart General Hospital where she had been
a patient six weeks. She had an extended illness.
A native of Hammond, she was born Aug. 1, 1897, and had lived in Elkhart since
1938.She was married April 7, 1917, in Oak Park, Ill., to Walter G. Krumwiede
Sr.
Survivors include her husband; a son Walter G. Jr., Elkhart; four grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Albert (Mayme) Hitchcock, Lake Zurich,
Ill.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Hartzler-Gutermuth Funeral Home where
services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Mark Blaising, pastor of
Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Rice cemetery.
Mrs. Krumwiede was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a member
of the Elk's Ladies Auxiliary and Homeland Garden Club. Memorials may be made
to the church.
