"Love Letters" next Majestic production
Paxton Majestic Theatre is show-casing one of its favorite couples in June with the production of "Love Letters."
The production opens June 6 for one weekend only, with Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
The play is a character study of two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but sharing each other's lives and confidences through letters and notes. The characters share their letters with the audience, with the letters starting in second grade and continuing through birthday party thank-you notes and summer camp, boarding school and college, and on through their romance, war, her failed marraige and his political career.
"love Letters" is a favorite play often performed by such famous couples as Robert Wagner and Stephanie Powers from the TV show "Hart to Hart," and by Robert Reed and Betsy Palmer, and by Meredith Baxter with Michael Gross from "Family Ties."
The Majestic's own "famous couple" is Craig and Marlynn Luhresen, who have been a part of the theatre's group of performers for almost 10 years, and in fact met during a production at the Majestic.
They both appeared in "Wizard of Oz," PMT's first production of 1997, in the roles of the Scarecrow and the Wicked Witch. Their most recent appearance was during "The Odd Couple" (female version) in which Marlynn was Florence Unger and Craig played the Spanish suitor, Manuel. They have appeared separately and together in numerous plays over the years.
