The son of the late Henry C. and Minnie Sprehe Krumwiede, he was born Aug. 4,
1907 in Buckley. He married the former Thelma Canady Feb. 25, 1956 in Gibson
City. She died Jan. 14, 1970. Surviving are two stepchildren, Irene and Richard;
three sisters, Laura Walwer of Peoria, Rosa Weber of Onarga and Hilda Eckoff of Milford;
three brothers, George of Angola, Ind., Fred of DelRay and Carl of Onarga; and a
special friend, Ilene Miller of Cissna Park. He was preceded in death by seven
brothers and four sisters. Mr. Krumwiede was a retired farmer. He

(2)(5) Section A, Row 13A, Plot 57. Tombstone
reads "Herman 'Pete' Krumwiede." Personal observation leads me
to believe that Pete's grave is actually on the dividing line between Plots 58 and
57. He is buried between his maternal grandparents on Plot 58 and his parents on
Plot 57 "Pete" was known in the family for several things.
He could calculate the total materials needed to build any structure -- from the
foundation blocks, lumber, right down to the nails -- without fail, and was something
of an irritation to lumberyard managers who were accustomed to figuring these things
out for customers themselves. He possessed a combination of strength and stamina
that allowed him to outwork just about anyone over the course of a day. For instance,
if the task of the day was shelling corn, he would get into a rythm that was comfortable
for his wiry frame and stick with it as long as necessary to get the job done.
He had a mind like a steel trap. Once told something, he never forgot it. It is to
my deep regret that I did not become aware of this until after his death. He
had a photographic memory, demonstrated well when playing cards. He coul pick up
his hand, arrange it, tuck it against his chest and bid and play his cards without
ever looking at the hand again.
He was married to Thelma CANADY on 25 Feb 1956. Thelma CANADY was born
on 20 Jan 1909. She died on 14 Jan 1970. (The Sprehe Family records have CASSIDY)
