Arthur H. Hilgendorf, 78, of route 1, Donovan, died at 10:05 a.m. yesterday (December 18, 1979) at the Americana Nursing Home in Urbana.
He was born May 6, 1901 in Buckley, the son of Fred and Sophia Krumwiede Hilgendorf. He was married at Almond, Wis., on September 8, 1926 to Clara Tiarks.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Obert of Chebanse, Onnie of Donovan, and Rev. Maynard Hilgendorf of Ann Arbor, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Aloha Munsterman of Onarga; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by five brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Hilgendorf was a farmer in the Loda and Donovan area since 1942, and was a 19-year employee of the former Iroquois Service Co. until his retirement in 1967.
He was also a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Rev. Leon Hauser will officiate with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Buckley.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the DeValk Funeral Home in Watseka, and one hour before services at the church.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hilgendorf of Donovan will observe their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday, August 28, at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Watseka. An anniversary service will be held at 2 p.m. and an open house from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The couple requests no gifts. The former Clara Tiarks and Arthur Hilgendorf were married September 8, 1926, at the home of the bride's parents at Almond, Wis., by the Rev. Forester. They are the parents of three sons, Obert of Chebanse, Rev. Maynard Hilgendorf of Engadine, Mich., Onnie of Donovan, and one daughter, Mrs. Fred Munsterman of Milford. There are seventeen grandchildren.
