Illinois.56 He died on 21
Jan 1957 in Buckley, Iroquois County, Illinois.57
William Hilgendorf
William Hilgendorf, a lifelong resident of Buckley and community, died Monday
morning, Jan. 21, at his home in Buckley where he had resided the past 16 years
after retiring from farming. He had been in failing health the past several years
but had not been confined to his bed or home. He passed away in his sleep and
was discovered dead in his bed by his wife at 6:30 a.m.
Born Dec. 27, 1877 on a farm two miles to the south of Buckley, he was the son
of John and Marie Hartke Hilgendorf and one of a family of eight children. He
was married to Miss Martha Steinman at Buckley, Jan. 8, 1899. She pre-deceased
him in 1910.
He is survived by his widow, the former Ida Beman (sic) who he married Jan. 18,
1911; two daughters by his first marriage, Mrs. Frank (Esther L. ) Dippel, Buckley,
Mrs. Russell (Lenora) Blue, Milington, Mich.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren;
three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Wagner, Loda, Mrs. Elnora Kaufman and Mrs. Martha
Kaufman, both of Buckley. He was preceded in death by his parents, four infant
children, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Ronna and Mrs. Mathilda Steinman, and three
brothers, Henry, John and Fred.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Jan. 24, at St. John's Lutheran Church
following a family prayer service in Kelley Memorial Home who was in charge of
arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. W. A. Eissfeldt officiated.
He was buried on 24 Jan 1957 in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Buckley, Illinois.5,7

Martha STEINMANN (daughter of Friedrich STEINMANN
and Louise HACHMEISTER) was born on 1 Apr 1879.59 She died in 1910.60

HILGENDORF and Ida Marie BEAMAN were married on 18 Jan 1911 in Netawaka, Kansas.61 Ida Marie
BEAMAN (daughter of William BEAMAN and Sophia FRICKE) was born on 24 Jan
1877 in Artesia Township, Iroquois County, Illinois.62 She was in the news in 1918/19.63
Mrs. Wm. Hilgendorf returned Saturday evening from the mineral springs. Mrs.
Hilgendorf spent several weeks at Martinsville. The baths helped her very much.
She took a new lease on life. Her friends will be pleased to know this.
She died on 22 Jun 1961 in Gibson City, Ford County, Illinois.62
Mrs. Ida Hilgendorf, 84, Buckley, Dies; Rites Held Saturday
Mrs. Ida Marie Hilgendorf, 84, of Buckley, died last Thursday at 8 p.m. at a
nursing home in Gibson City where she had resided the last three months.
She was born January 24, 1877 near Buckley, daughter of William and Sophia Fricke
Beaman and spent the greater part of her life in Artesia township, with the exception
of short periods of residence in Minnesota and Kansas.
She was married January 18, 1911, in Netawaka, Kan., to William Hilgendorf, who
died January 21, 1957.
Surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. Frank (Esther) Dippel of Buckley and Mrs.
Russell (Lenora) Blue, Millington, Mich.; eight step grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren;
a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Murphy of Arkansas City, Kan.; a brother Edward Beaman
of Hoyt, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
Her first husband, John Heck, her parents, a brother and a sister preceded her
in death.
A family prayer service was conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Kelley Memorial
Home in Buckley with rites at 2 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church, Buckley.
The Rev. John C. Brehm of Cissna Park officiated. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery.
She was buried on 24 Jun 1961 in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Buckley, Illinois.5,7
