HILGENDORF was born on 24 Apr 1886 in Artesia Township, Iroquois County,
Illinois.20 (In the Iroquois

It is given as CRUMWEIDER, Sophia.) He died on 11 Feb 1939 in Loda, Illinois.95,96
It pleased Almighty God to call to the eternal home the deceased, Mr. August
Hilgendorf. Last Saturday night he passed away in his home at Loda at age of
52 years, 9 months, and .17 days. He was born April 24, 1886, at Buckley, Illinois,
where he was baptized in the Lutheran church and later, after due instruction
in the divine truth, he was also confirmed.
In December, 1908, he was married to Miss Emma Hinrichs, who preceded him in
death in October, 1918. Their union the Lord blessed with two daughters, Mrs.
Frank Hilgendorf and Miss Laura, who both live in Loda. Bereaved of his wife,
he made his home first with his parents. On September 26, 1921, .he entered
into a second marriage with Miss Minnie Boelter, of Almond, Wisconsin. The deceased
brother lived practically all his life in this community, except the five years
he spent in the states of North Dakota and Wisconsin.
For many years Mr. Hilgendorf was blessed with good health. The last few years
he suffered a few minor ailments from which he easily recovered. From the illness
which befell him about five weeks ago, he did not recover because it was God's
will that he should leave this world. During his last illness he suffered at
times severely. In all his suffering, however, the Word of God afforded still
comfort and strength to bear patiently the heavy burden the Lord had layed upon
him. To keep himself prepared for a blessed death he partook yet of Holy Communion.
He acknowledged his sinful condition and truly believed in Jesus whose blood
cleanses us from all sins. Repeatedly he confessed .his trust in the Savior,
and to his very last hour he was privileged to enjoy the comforts of God's Word.
Well prepared for a blessed death, he fell asleep in Jesus last Saturday evening
and is now delivered from. all pain and suffering. His rather early departure
is mourned by his bereaved wife. two sons, two daughters, one son-in4aw, three
grandchildren, six 'brothers, "three sisters, and many other relatives and
friends. May he rest in peace!
