FUNERAL FOR MR. CARTER SUNDAY The funeral for Jesse Henry Carter, 86 years old, who died at his home in this city Saturday morning, was held at 11 o'clock Sunday morning at the Salt River church, 10 miles south of Mexico. The Rev. Egan Gerndon of near Centralia, conducted the service. Burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mr. Carter was born in Nichols County, Kentucky, and when a young man, came to this county and settled on a farm southwest of here. He lived there until about four years ago when he came to Mexico. His wife who was Miss Martha Maffett, died several years ago.

Mr. Carter is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Effie Thomas, Gillette Wyo., Mrs. Tom Squires, of near Centralia and Mrs. Ed Beatty of near Mexico. He also leaves twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Deceased was known to his friends as "Uncle Jesse" and he was a lovable character, kindly and friendly to everyone. His many friends will regret to know his death.
