From: cindycolley@ktis.net (Cindy Colley) Audrain County Area Genealogical Society Death Notices From Mexico, MO Newspapers 1897-1899 page 53 DAILY INTELLIGENCER newspaper 17 Nov 1897 page 4, column 3 CARTER Mrs. Martha Carter, aged 79 years, mother of Jesse Carter, living 10 miles west of Mexico, died this morning about 6 o'clock at the home of her son, with whom she had been making her home for the past three or four ears. -------She was born in Kentucky and moved to this county about 35 years ago. She was a sister of Mrs. Frank Sentell, living west of town, and also a sister of the late William Baskett, father of J. N. Baskett, of this city. The deceased has been a member of the Christian Church ever since childhood and the funeral services will take place at the Salt River Church tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Dr. Mayes, pastor of the church. She leaves a son, Jesse, five grandchildren, Mrs. Thos. Dalby, Mrs. Thos. Squires, Mrs. Jno. Turner, Maude and Claude C. and four great grandchildren. |
