Mrs. Jesse H. Carter Dies Wed. Mrs. Jesse Carter, 78 years of age, died at her home
near Gant, Wednesday morning about 7 o'clock, from a stroke of paralysis. She was ill only
a short time, having been stricken with paralysis about 2 o'clock on Tuesday morning.
The funeral will be held at Salt River Church, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The
Rev. David Mayes of Centralia will officiate. The body will be buried in Salt River
Cemetery.
Mrs. Carter was the wife of Jesse Carter, one of the most prominent citizens of the
county. She was a beautiful Christian character and a member of the Christian church for
many years. Her death will sadden the hearts of not only her close neighbors, but all who
knew her.
Besides a husband, she is survived by the following children: Mesdames T. Squires, Ed
Beatty, Effie Dalbey and John Thomas, all of the Gant neighborhood and C. C. Carter of Los
Angeles, Calif.
The Ledger joins many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved.
