Subject:  Andrew PRYOR d. 1768 NJ (or Staten Island?)

I have seen another person say that Calvert had Andrew PRYOR 1728-1768 as 'of' NY. (and they cited a will naming children- search the archives for 1998 for 'Calvert')

I thought I had seen a message about how to get Calvert's book on this list-- but it isn't in the archives as far as I can tell.  Does someone have the book, or know where I can get a copy?

I have been watching the cites for Andrew 1728-1768 & think he could be a forebear of this Staten Island family that I've been looking at. (who seemed to have used the PRIER spelling as from 1750-today)

The lineage in the 1920's history, Leng and Davis' "Staten Island and its People" Volume IV, page 432 has the following notes;[paraphrased]

Bergen, NJ- Andries PRYER & Anna STYMETS married.

Essex County Soldiers in the Revolution = John & Moses PRIOR

New Jersey Regiment= Thomas and Lemon PRIOR

PRIORs were among the 'founders of Huguenot'. Huguenot Ave (from Huguenot Station to Laforge's Corners) was once known as Preyer's Lane.

Associated with the Woodrow Baptist Church, then St. Andrews[Episcopal], then recently[1900's], The Moravian Chh. at New Dorp.

.....then continues with this lineage;

 Andrew  b. Sept 6, 1732

  John (B:1750) SI, NY

    ANDREW PRIOR (1782 -September 26, 1823 ) SI, NY

    m. December 14, 1808 in St. Andrew's Ch., Staten Island,

CATHERINE EDDEY. Catherine d. March 20,1860

        1. Leah b. Oct 27 1809

        2. Catherine Ann b. Sep 6 1811

        3. William b. Mar 8 1814

        4. John b. Nov 28, 1817

        5. Susan b. Aug 7 1821

        6. Peter M. b. July 1 1823

        7. James E b. March 25, 1828 m. Ellen J. La Forge.

James died March 4, 1908 and is buried in Moravian cemetery

*********

I *think* I am descended from William.  I know I am descended from *some* William PRIER who married a Sarah LOCKMAN, and that there is a Sarah, wife of Wm. PRIER buried in St. Andrews graveyard who is the right age for this William's wife.

******

As soon as I get past William I'll be ordering John's Rev. War pension file which is supposed to have some bible
pages & c in it.
