Generation No. 1

Simon Roof was born about 1794 in Pennsylvania, and he died after 1860.  He married Catherine (Unknown) and they had ten children, all born either in Pennsylvania or Mahoning County, Ohio:  Daniel (1825) , Samuel (1826), Jacob (1828), John (1831), Catherine (1833), Sarah A (1838), Andrew (1844), and Isaac (1845).


Generation No. 2

Daniel Roof, son of Simon, was born about 1825 in Pennsylvania.  He married Leah Harrof 4 May 1844 in Trumbull County, Ohio and they had eleven children, all in Mahoning County, Ohio:  Susanna (1845) who married John Barritt 8 July 1878;  Sara A born 1847;  Jacob born 1849,  Hiram born in 1850,;  Isabella, born 1854;  John, born 1857;  Mary, born 1862; Ella, born 1865;  Lottie, born 1870;  Lizzie, and
Michael.

Samuel Roof, son of Simon, was born in 1826 in Pennsylvania.  He married Magdalena (Unknown) and they had seven children:  Mary A (1846),  Ludema (1848),  Sophia (1849),  Rosa A (1853),  Emanuel (1855),  Amelia (1857), and Caroline (1860).

Jacob Roof, son of Simon, was born 28 march 1828 in Pennsylvania and died 31 March 1879 in
Weathersfield, Trumbull County, Ohio.  He married Elizabeth Pennell 3 May 1849 in Mahoning County and they had four children, all presumably in Mahoning County, Ohio:  Sara A (1849),  Prosser (1851),  Louisa ( 1854), and Annette (1859). 

John Roof was born about 1831 in Ohio.  He married Catherine Lodwick and they had six children:  Lucy Ann (1863),  Anna Eliza (1868),  Shannon J. (1862),  Elizabeth (1868), and Fred (1870).  All children were born in Mahoning County, except for Lucy, who was born in Lordstown, Trumbull County, Ohio.

Catherine Roof, daughter of Simon, was born 1833 in Pennsylvania and died 10 March 1870 in Austintown, Mahoning County, Ohio.  She married  Nathan Lodwick 1856, son of Conrad Lodwick and Mary Haroff, and they had six children:  Mary Ellen (1861),  Permelia (1862),  Nell (1863),  Sarah Jane (1865),  Saloma (1867)  and Milo Lodwick (1870).

Andrew Roof, son of Simon, was born in 1844.  He married Mary C. (unknown) and they had five
children:  Sarah J (1864),  Liza (1868),  Marette (1869),  B (1872), and Dallisin (1875).

Isaac Roof, son of Simon, was born in 1845 in Ohio and died 21 December 1913 in Trumbull County, Ohio.  He married Emma (unknown) and they had two children:  Genie (1879) and Edward (1872).

Generation No. 3


Lucy Ann Roof, daughter of John, granddaughter of Simon, was born 14 February 1853 in Lordstown, Trumbull County, Ohio and died in the flu epidemic of 1918 in Indiana County, PA.  She married Frederick Smith 3 September 1868 in Mahoning County, Ohio and they had six children:  Frank (who also died during the epidemic),  Mary Kathryn,  Nettie,  John, and Charles Frederick Smith.

Anna Eliza Roof, daughter of John, granddaughter of Simon, was born 27 March 1858 in Austintown,
Mahoning County, Ohio.  She married William M Guiste, son of Eli Guiste and Matilda Fisher;  Anna and William had three children:  Harry Emmette (1894),  Charles O (1882),  Cora B (1877), and Mary E (1884). 

Shannon J Roof, son of John, grandson of Simon, was born 1862 in Ohio and died 14 September 1928 in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio.  He married Ella E (unknown) and they had two children:  Curtis and Wilford.

Sarah Jane Lodwick, daughter of Catherine, granddaughter of Simon, was born 20 November 1865 in Mineral Ridge, Trumbull County, Ohio and died 11 October 1950 in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio.  She married John C Seagraves and they had a daughter (unknown) who married Fred Curley

Saloma Mary Lodwick, daughter of Catherine, granddaughter of Simon, was born 13 August 1867 in
Mineral Ridge, Trumbull County, Ohio and died 21 March 1951 in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio.  She married Ellis Aaron Webb 1 January 1889 and they had four children:  Emily Pearl (1890),  Ruby Mae (1882),  Irene Lillie (1894), and Edward Nathan (1899).

Milo Lodwick, son of Catherine, grandson of Simon, was born 30 September 1870 in Mineral Ridge, Trumbull County, Ohio and died 17 January 1954 in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio.  He married Anna Catherine Weimer 27 November 1895 in Youngstown and they had children:  Florence (1898) and Catherine Bridget (1904).


Generation No. 4

Frank Smith, son of Lucy, grandson of John, died in the Indiana County, PA flu epidemic of 1918.  He married Stella Pendleberry and they had two children:  Fred (1907) and Irvin (1912).

Mary Kathryn Smith, daughter of Lucy, granddaughter of John, died 27 March 1953.  She married
Robert Henry Adams, son of Walter Adams and Jenny Snyder and they had four children:  Robert, Leland, Charles Irvin, and Clair Laverne, all in Bolivar, Pennsylvania.

Nettie Smith, daughter of Lucy, granddaughter of John, was born 25 July 1869 and died 11 March 1952.  She married Harry Cox and they had two known children:  Evelyn and Fred.  Harry and Nettie left Indiana County and they resided in Cleveland, Ohio.

Charles Frederick Smith, son of Lucy, grandson of John, was born 28 October 1877 in Shelocta, Indiana County, PA and died 11 December 1943 in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio.  He married Emma Florence Campbell 1899, daughter of Samuel Campbell and Jane Craig.  Charles and Emma had seven children, all in Indiana County, Penn:   Arthur Dale (2 May 1900),  Janet Lucille (18 May 1902),  Lawrence Campbell (15 June 1904),  Velma Florence (9 February 1906),  Everett Hale (20 August 1908),  Lee Roy (19 September 1910),  and Eva Fae (17 may 1915).  The Smith family relocated to Warren, Ohio in 1921 from Vandergrift, Pennsylvania.

Cora B Guiste, daughter of Anna Eliza, granddaughter of John, was born 6 August 1877 in Chicora, Armstrong County, PA and died 30 December 1965.  Her second marriage, to Thomas Miner, the son of Daniel Miller and Harriet Gilbert resulted in two known children:  Joseph E and Collier W.

Mary E Guiste, daughter of Anna Eliza and granddaughter of John, was born 28 May 1884 and she died 10 May 1981 in North Jackson, Trumbull County, Ohio.  She married William Smith 3 June 1902 and they had nine children:  Thelma, who married Morris Graham;  Earla, Daughter (unk) who married Joseph Halles;  Harold;  Daryl;  Mona;  Velda;  Sylvia who married Mr. Burtner; and Lauren, born 28 October 1904 in Lordstown, Trumbull County, Ohio and died 1953 in Youngstown, Ohio.  Lauren married Margaret Fullerton in 1923.
