| Nicholas Airheart was granted 160 acres in the Hiwassee District, TN in 1820. (Tennessee Land Grants, Book 2, p.326, g#883.) Nicholas was listed in the 1840 US census in Monroe Co. TN at 00030001001-11100101. His father, Nicholas, is probably the male aged 80-90 in the household. Nicholas' mother is dead as the oldest female is between 50-60 and this is certainly Sara. Children of Nicholas are listed in the family bible owned by Archie Airhart of Shreveport, LA.465 Nicholas and Sara Airhart, 2 of their daughters; Sara Kile (married Jacob Kile) and Margaret Lee and familes, ( their daughter Elizabeth if she is the Nancy Elizabeth who married ______ Bush) son Alexander, and grandchildren, George, William, and Eliza all migrated to Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana just south of Cloutierville, LA. An article written by Marie Wise in a 12-29-1996 newspaper column "The Challenge of Genealogy" from the Natchitoches, La. "Leader"gives the date for the move as 1839. But because they are listed in the 1840 census in Monroe County in TN, the date must be incorrect. They probably moved after Nov 1840--see the land sale below. In 1850 Nicholas and Sara were living in the household of their son Alexander in LA. 1850 US census in Natchitoches Parish, LA. Alex Airhart, age 27, Farmer, 200 acres, b. TN Nicholas Airhart, age 67, b. PA Sara Airhart, age 70, b. NC George Airhart, age 19, Farmer, b. TN Elisa Airhart, age 18, b. TN On 2 Nov 1840, Nicholas Earhart sold to Job Allen, land begueathed to him by the late Nickolas Earhart by will. (Monroe County, Tennessee Records 1820-1870, vol. I by Reba Bayless, Deed Books N & K. p. 134). 1850 US census in Natchitoches Parish, LA. Peter Airhart, age 44, Farmer, 500 acres, born TN Martin Airhart, age 19, born LA Dennis Airhart, age 17, born LA Peter Airhart, age 11, born LA Tobither Airhart, age 7, born LA Davis Airhart, age 5, born LA Since Peter's son, Martin (grandson of Nicholas and Sara), age 19, was born in LA, Peter must have moved to LA by 1831. So Nicholas and Sara and their extended families moved to LA to join their son and his family. | ||||||||||||||||
