member of the Titus Co Texas Militia Com. I. He was enlisted on
August 22, 1861 at Mount Pleasant by Captain Hill. He substituted for private
J.C.S. Johnson who was discharged. See also records for private J.S. Johnson.
His age is recorded as 20 years on the second State Muster Roll. Confederate records show his
last name also listed as Maberry and Mayberry. He mustered into the Confederate States Cavalry
Service with this Company on October 2, 1861 at Camp Reeves, in Grayson County, Texas.
Major George W. Chilton of the 3rd Texas Cavalry was the Mustering Officer. Mabry was engaged
in the battle of Elk Horn on March 6 and 7, 1862. A payment record states
that he was from South Carolina and was 21 years old on December 11, 1862 and
had been a Farmer. At that time he received $340 for Service, clothing and
Bounty for the period of November 1, 1861 to August 31, 1862. He was present
until listed as absent, sick in Hospital in Dalton, Georgia on the December
31, 1863 Muster Roll. Mabry was absent "in arrest by Civil Authority in
Asheville, N.C." on final Muster Roll.

Stanly Marksmen of Co. H, 14th NC Regiment": Grant ordered printing presses set up in one of the
town's buildings and printed formal paroles for what was left of the valiant Army of Northern
Virginia. The remnants of the 14th NC amounted to 115 men who received paroles. Of the 90 Stanly
County men who joined the 14th NC in May 1861, Privates Julius F. Carter, John Keith, Eban Mabry
and Seargent Bennett Russell are listed as having been present at Appomattox to receive a parole.
All of the rest of their comrades had been captured, killed, or were in hospitals or had simply
returned home before Lee's surrender.

Franklin Co GA; He m Necy Guest on 26 Sep 1849 in Franklin Co. He enlisted as a Private
on 10 Mar 1862 in the 43rd Reg., Georgia Volunteer Inf. (Kellogg's Rifles), Army of Tennessee.
He was captured in Forsyth Co Georgia in 1864 and was taken to a military prison in Louisville,
KY as a Confederate deserter and took an oath of allegiance to the U. S. Government. He was
released on 18 Jul 1864 to remain north of the Ohio River during the War. He later lived in
Montgomery and Yell counties in Arkansas where he was a farmer, mail carrier, and school board
member. He d on 27 May 1908.

18th SC Inf.; captured 30 Jul 1864 at Petersburg, VA, sento to Elmire, NY and later to
Point Lookout, MD Prison Camp where he died of disease 26 Oct 1864. Buried in Grave #573
at Point Lookout.
