The DNA reports of our participants
fall into three main categories:
·
The reports highlighted in green show the DNA
signature of the English Maybury family
which has been passed down from father to son at least since the 16th
century. These reports vary slightly due
to minor mutations that occur infrquently.
·
The reports highlighted in orange are from
branches of the English Maybury family
that acquired NEW dna signatures by means of “paternal events” during the 18th
or 19th century (see explanation below).
·
The reports highlighted in shades of blue are
descendants of Frederick Mayberry of
Bedford County, Virginia. See below and elsewhere
for our theory that Frederick nay also have descended from the English Mayburys.
For more information, see “About DNA Signatures” below.

Individual
DNA reports below show up to 37 markers.
Participants whose kit numbers and surnames are shown in red have 67
marker reports, however the extra 30 markers are not shown because of space
imitations. |

The Lancashire Mayburys including the Mayberrys of
Londonderry and Antrim in Northern Ireland The following are descendants of Richard Maybury who died at Cartmel,
Lancashire in 1643. His son, John
Maybury (1628-1677) went to County Londonderry in northern Ireland in
1657, where the name is usually spelled “Mayberry”. Several Londonderry
Mayberrys later emigrated to the U.S. |

The Kerry Mayburys Three Mayburys were part of Sir
William Petty’s English plantation in County Kerry, Ireland about 1671. At least two were hammermen who worked at Petty’s Kerry iron works. The third, William Maybury (ca1645-ca1712 married Rachel Orpen, daughter of
Petty’s land agent. William and Rachel’s
descendants lived in Kerry and Cork for several generations. |
