- Biography of Cornelius4 Mabrey (Cornelius3, Charles, Francis)
Cornelius Mabrey of Pittsylvania Co., Va., was a mill-wright by trade. He was married twice, but of his first wife and her children we have no account. His second wife was Polly Chaney, by whom he had - Patsey, Pleasant, Letitia, Elizabeth, Polly, and Philip. Mr. Mabrey moved to middle Tennessee and lived there several years. He afterward settled in Logan county, KY., where after a residence of several years, he was drowned. In 1828 his widow and her children came to Missouri, and settled in Lincoln county, where she died two years afterward. The eldest daughter, Patsey, married George Huss, who also settled in Lincoln county. Pleasant married Barsheba England, and is now living in Pike county. He had seven children, five of whom live in Montgomery county, was married twice; first to Polly Uptegrove, and second to Eliza J. Hughes. He is a carpenter by trade, and has done well in his battle with life. In his younger days he was very intimate with Dr. McFarland, of Troy, and they went to all the quiltings and dances together. They were both very tall men, and the lofts of the cabins had to be taken out before they could dance without striking their heads against the boards. When the dance was over they would assist in replacing the loft. Young men and women often came to these frolics barefooted; but they generally went prepared with buckskin, from which they made moccasins to dance in, before the dance began. -- From A History of The Pioneer Families of Missouri by Wm. Or go east from Weaubleau on Hwy. 54 about 4 miles to AA, then east to County Road 123 and 1/2 mile south. This cemetery is divided by an east-west drive from the main entrance. Rows are designated S-south of drive, C-center part of cemetery north of drive, and N-the new section lying in north portion of cemetery.

Biography of - ARDELLA FOSTER AND SAMUEL FRANCIS THOMPSON (excerpt) .......Ardella Foster, the daugher of Anthony Sinclair Foster and Sorena Williams Foster, was born on August 1, 1888, at Bee Fork, Reynolds County, Missouri. On February 22, 1908, she was married to Samuel Thompson at Black, Missouri.
Uncle Sam Thompson, born on January 12, 1881, was the son of Henry Edmondson Thompson and Winney Johnson Thompson and the granson of Charles Francis Thompson and Mary Altize Thompson of Elizabeth Miller Thompson.
Henry Edmondson Thompson was born on March 17, 1856, in Missouri, and died August 15, 1920. His wife, Winney Johnson, was born December 26, 1885. Charles Francis Thompson was born in Virginia in 1834. His second wife, Elizabeth Miller, was born in 1839 in Tennessee.
The first Thompson family in Missouri was: Samuel Thompson was born in Virginia in 1802. He died in 1879, Iron County, Missouri. He married (1) Didama, born 1804, Virginia; married (2) Mrs. Isabella Stuart Johnson (widow of Henry Johnson) in 1850.
The children of Ardella and Samuel Thompson are as follows: (Note: One of those listed) Winnie Marie Thompson was born at Sapulpa, Oklahoma, on March 4, 1921. She married William Harold Mabry on January 14, 1939. They had one child, Steven Norris Mabry.
Sometime between 1914 and 1918 they moved to Oklahoma. Ardella died on February 23, 1948, with burial at Eagletown, Oklahoma. Sam died on April 26, 1974 and was also buried at Eagletown, Oklahoma. --- Submitted by: Eugene Camden

- Ripley County Pioneer Is Dead
Hon. Thomas W. Mabrey died at his home in Doniphan on Monday afternoon. A message announcing his death was received Tuesday by relatives in Van Buren. Mr. Mabrey was nearly 82 years old and was Ripley County's most conspicious pioneer citizen. He was teacher, soldier, lawyer, statesman, citizen. Mr. Mabrey located at Doniphan in 1859. In July, 1861, he enlisted in the six months' State service under Gen. Jeff Thompson and later entered Col. White's Regiment, C.S.A., with which he served until the end of the Civil War. After the war he practiced law. In 1868 he as elected Prosecuting Attorney of Ripley County and served four years. In 1878 he was elected to represent Ripley County in the House of the Legislature and latter was elected State Senator. In 1870 Mr. Mabrey was married to Miss Sallie J. Carter, a daughter of the late Zimri A. Carter who located in what is now Carter County with his father in 1813. The deceased is survived by his wife, two sons and five daughters. They are Pinckney and William Mabrey. Mrs. Nora Malugen, Mrs. Sallie M. Johnston, Mrs. Edna Ponder, and Misses Bess and Irene Mabrey, all of Doniphan. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the M. E. Church, South, with the pastor, Rev. J. W. Worsnop, officiating. Interment was in Oakridge cemetery. "Uncle" Tom" Mabrey had hosts of friends in Carter County who will learn of his passing on to the unchartered land with profound sorrow and regret. --- Doniphan Republic, Ripley Co., MO. - Sept. 22, 1921

Joseph Willard Mabary, 77, Humansville, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at his home north of Humansville. The son of George and Grace Hollingsworth Mabary, he was born June 15, 1921, at Fairfield in Benton County. A longtime resident of Humansville, he was a farmer. He was married to Thelma Louise Maberry, who preceded him in death April 15, 1981. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Faye Phillips; and a brother, Clinton Mabary. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Vernon Lee Myers Jr., Flemington; a son, Ronald Lee Mabary, state of Texas; two grandchildren, Jenniefer Lee Myers, Bolivar, and Jared Michael Myers, Flemington; two sisters and their husbands, Arlene and Virgil Phillips, Cross Timbers, and Pauline and Harv Shelton, state of Texas; a brother, Kenneth Mabary, Pittsburg; and a sister-in-law, Faye Mabary, Pittsburg. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in Murray Chapel, Humansville, with the Rev. Mike Brixey officiating. Burial will follow in Fisher Cemetery, Preston.
