IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I James Harwell leave unto my eldest Son Grief Harwell the following four Tracts of Land Vizt. the first consisting of one hundred and fifty Acres lying on Coxe's Creek and which I Bought of John Robertson, The second Tract consists of six hundred Acres lying in Mecklenburg County, The third Tract consists of four hundred Acres which I purchased of Daniel Carroll upon which last tract the said Carroll is to live during his lifetime. The fourth tract consists of one hundred acres which I purchased of John Lambert and which joyn's the above mentioned Tract Bought of the above Daniel Carroll, The above said four mentioned tracts of land whether they consist of a greater of (sic) less numbers of Acres then is herein mentioned, I give and bequeath unto my Son Grief Harwell to him and his Heirs forever.

This Will was presented in Court by Peter Thomas the surviving Executor therein named proved by the Oath of Thomas Craufurd one of the Witnesses thereto and Ordered to be Recorded And the said Executor personally in Court refusing to take upon himself the burthen of the Execution thereof On the Motion of Samuel Harwell who made Oath thereto according to law and together with Thomas Stith and Thomas Simmons his Securities entered into and acknowledged a Bond in the penalty of five thousand pounds with conditions as the law directs Certificate is granted him for obtaining Letters of Administration of the said decedant's estate (with the Will annexed) in due form.

I Elizabeth Jones Mabry being of full age and of a sound mind and memory but being sick and weak in Body do give and dispose of my worldly goods in manner following, that is to say, Imprimis. I give to my Sister Judith Mabry one Negro Girl Patt, to her and her heirs forever. Item, I give one Negro Boy Scott to my Sister Mary Mabry to her and her heirs forever. Item, I give one feather Bed to my Sister Jane Hobbs to her and her heirs forever. Item, my will & desire is that my three cows and calves should be sold and the money be applied towards the schooling of my two youngest Sisters and Brother, and I do hereby declare this to be my last Will and Testament, and I do hereby appoint my loving father Daniel Mabry my Executor. THIS INDENTURE made this twenty eighth day of August one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven BETWEEN Parham Mabry of the Borough of Petersburg of the one part, and Elizabeth Jones Mabry and Jean Hobbs (two of my Sisters) of the other part, Witnesseth that I (Transcribers Note: "the said" was erased in the record and "I" added) Parham Mabry doth agreeable and according to my Father's Daniel Mabry's directions and instructions, and by the power of him the said Daniel Mabry, given granted, alien, and confirmed to the said Parham Mabry his son, and by virtue of a Deed of Trust to and for that purpose made and recorded in the County Court of Greensville, I Parham Mabry as aforesaid doth by these presents give and grant unto my Sister Elizabeth Jones Mabry two Negroes (to wit) Patt and Scott and their increase also one feather bed and furniture, and three Cows and Calves to her and her heirs forever. I give and bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me hopeing to obtain eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ and my Body to be buried in a Christian manner. My will and desire is that my just Debts be all duly paid.
ITEM I give and bequeath to my son Lewis Mabry the Land and Plantation on whereon I live (only the Chamber and lodging Room adjoining I reserve for my two youngest Daughters until they Marry, Also I give to my wife Winifred Mabry for Life the above mentioned Land and Plantation) also two Negroes to wit, Ander and Nanny a Girl, my still, One Cow and Calf, to be his and his heirs for ever.

ITEM I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Winfred Mabry for her life all the rest of my Estate which is not given away above, only the Legacies that is to be purchased with the money to be raised must be made out of this part of my Estate also when the Estate is settled my Dwelling House to be finished, and at the Death of my above mentioned wife for it to be equally divided between all my Children axcept Lewis Mabry also my will is that there should be no appraisement upon my Estate nor Inventory taken. I do hereby appoint my son Lewis Mabry Thomas Locke and John Pettway Executors to this my last Will and Testament ALSO I do hereby disannull all Wills heretofore made by me. THIS INDENTURE made this fourteenth day of March A.D. one thousand eight hundred and thirty two between Benjamin Maclin,William Abernathy, Hinchia Mabry and Robert H.Goodrich (Commissioners acting under an order of the County Court of Greensville bearing date the sixth day of March, instant) of the one part and Fielding Brown of the County of Sussex of the other part. Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand one hundred and eighteen dollars & 70 cents by the said Fielding Brown to the said Commissioners viz: Benjamin Maclin, William Abernathy, Hinchia Mabry and Robert H.Goodrich acting as aforesaid in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, they the aforesaid Commissioners have granted,bargained,sold,aliened,enfeoffed and confirmed, and by these presents, do grant, bargain, sell, alein, enfeoff and confirm unto the said Fielding Brown, his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing three hundred and sixty eight acres be the same more or less, situated lying and being in the aforesaid County of Greensville and bounded as follows viz: by the land of Alex'r.W.Batte, the land belonging to the estate of Evans M.Spencer dec'd. & the land that formerly belonged to Jessee Butts dec'd. etc. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging, to the said Fielding Brown his heirs and assigns forever, and the said commissioners,viz: Benjamin Maclin, Wm.Abernathy, Hinchia Mabry and Robt.H.Goodrich acting under the aforesaid order of the County Court of Greensville aforesaid, which empowers them to sell the land belonging to the orphans of Ephraim Davis dec'd. do convey such title to the said granted premises to the said Fielding Brown as is vested in them as Commissioners acting under the order aforesaid therefore, against the lawful claim or demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever, they will so for warrant and forever defend by these presents. THE COMMMONEWEALTH OF VIRGINIA to John Rogers, Robert Mabry and Benjamin Blunt Jr. gentleman greetings whereas Samuel Frances and Sally his wife of the county of South Hampton by their certain Indenture of Bargain and Sale bearing date the 23rd day of August 1791 has sold unto Alexander Green of the county of Brunswick the fee simple estate of two hundred and forty-nine acres of land with the appertenances lying and being in the county of Brunswick whereas the said Sally Francis cannot conveniently travel to our court . . . to make acknowledgement of the said conveyance therefore we do give unto you or any two or more of you power to receive the acknowledgement which she the sd. Sally Francis shall be willing to make before you of the conveyance . . . and we do therefore command you that you personally go the sd. Salley Frances and received her acknowledgement of the same and examine her privately and apart from the said Samuel Frances her husband . . . the 23rd day of Augt. 1791 by virtue of this commission to us directed we the subscribers, have privily examined Sally Frances wife of the within named Samuel Frances . . . and have received her acknowledgement of the Indenture hereunto annexed . . . certified under our hands the 23rd day of August 1791 . . . signed by Robt. 39. John Turpin, b 1831 in Anderson Co, S.C. He enlisted pvt G 3rd Ga. Inf and no more was heard of him. He married Elizabeth Parks and they had a son John who died about 50 years of age unmarried, and a daughter Parmelia who married Willie Ward. After the Civil War all the family moved to Texas.
40. Mat and her twin sister, b about 1833 m (1) ...... Scott, and (2) Jonathan Sam Morgan and moved to Ala.
41. Mollie, the other twin, m Joel Mabry, son of James Mabry and wife Sallie of Franklin Co, Ga. Mollie and Joel Mabry had four sons and two daughters.
