Maddux Cousins Tid Bits
Hi Cousins,
During WW2 I was stationed in Northern Ireland in 1944. The Belfast newspaper published a column every Sunday called
“What’s in a Name” and I found this paragraph:
Who are the Muddoxes?
Maddock, Maddox, etc., in Irish Madoc, is a Welsh name in origin. It seems to have come into Ireland with the
Invasion. A Price Madee of Wales is said to have been the first discoverer of America, if St. Brendan be not counted.
The photograph of my father Charles with his father and his brother below was taken around 1915.
My grandfather, Ira’s parents were George W. Maddux and Mary Harkey.
