Ashland County, located 60 miles southeast of Cleveland, was established in 1846.
The county seat, is also named Ashland. It produces over half of the world's supply of toy balloons and is the home of Ashland College founded in 1816. Ashland College is also the home site of Johnny Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed.
