OTHER INFORMATION
Hocking County takes its name from the Indian word "Hockhocking" which means "bottle".
The county seat of Logan was established by Colonel Thomas Worthington in 1816 and named for a Mingo leader, James John Logan. The canal in the 1840's and later the railroad opened the town to trade.
