Mrs. Lancaster was born March 24, 1918 in Wildersville, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late Frate and Ora (Hayes) Lewis. She had been a resident of Qulin for 70 years and attended Qulin Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening. In 1939, she married Wilford 'Shorty' Lancaster. He preceded her in death in 1974. Survivors include one daughter, Joan Austin and husband Charlie, of Festus; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Lancaster of Qulin; three sisters, Fleta Rodewald of Qulin, Wilma Martin of Harrison, Ark., and Juanita Adkinson of Yuma, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Jeff Austin of Festus, Letitia Benson, Leah Madison, and Lana Shearer, all of Qulin; and nine great-grandchildren, Dustin Benson, Landon Benson, Haley Benson, Lance Madison, Holden Madison, Brook Madison, Alan-Michael Shearer, Maci Shearer, and Tyler Austin. She is preceded in death by a son, Michael Lancaster; a sister, Geraldine Butler; a brother, Stanley Lewis; and a grandson, Kent Austin. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Monday at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Karl Kline and the Rev. Monty Flanigan officiating. Burial will be at the Qulin Cemetery. Robert Porter QULIN -- Robert Guy Porter, 74, of Qulin died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Porter was born May 30, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio. He had lived in Qulin since 1966. He was of the Catholic faith. He retired in 2001. He owned and operated Porter's Supermarket and Laundromat in Qulin and later was a truck driver for Beacon Truck Line. He was a charter member of the Qulin Lions Club, a member of the Eagles Aerie No. 4066 at Wappapello, American Legion Post at Qulin, former chief of the Qulin Volunteer Fire Department. On June 2, 1967, he married Evelyn Nelson at Las Vegas, Nev. She died Dec. 11, 2001. Survivors include one sister-in-law, Rosie Nelson of Qulin, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will be in the Qulin Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------- Wanda Ritchie NEELYVILLE -- Wanda P. Ritchie, 61, of Qulin died Tuesday Jan. 2, 2004, at Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Ritchie was born July 2, 1942, in Lilbourn and was of the Baptist faith. She was retired from the Harrison Steel Mill in Attica, Ind., where she and her husband both worked. She graduated from Grey Ridge High School in 1960. On June 11, 1967, she married Shiril W. Ritchie at Van Buren, Ark. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Todd W. Ritchie of Qulin; three sisters, Virgie Roson of Wentzville, Shirley Wyman of Clovis, N. M. and Orabe Phluger of Ellsinore; two brothers, Roy Condict of Poplar Bluff and Doyle Condict of Essex and four grandchildren. Visitation will after 6 p.m. Friday at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Ham, 73, of Winfield died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at his residence.Mr. Ham was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Holcomb. He was an active member of the Grace Baptist Church. He had been a laborer for Hussmann Refrigeration in Bridgeton for 15 years before retiring. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from Dec. 3, 1952, to Nov. 27, 1954. He was married to Lola Ham. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Linda D. Luebke of Detroit; three sons, Leonard R. Ham and Lloyd K. Ham, both of Winfield, and Linzel M. Ham of St. Peters; three sisters, Shelba J. Rees of Jackson, Gloria D. Parks of Qulin and Shirley A. Dycus of Poplar Bluff; three brothers, Herman D. Ham and Calvin L. Ham, both of Qulin and Donnie A. Ham of Poplar Bluff; 14 grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Kelzy Robert and Anna Belle Ham, and one daughter, Vickye L. Ham. Mrs. McMunn was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Hayti. She was a member of the Pink Baptist Church. She was retired and had worked as a pharmacy clerk at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis and in the front office of Head Start in Tecumseh. Her grandchildren were the focal point of her life and she enjoyed gardening and reading. On Oct. 5, 1938, she married Bill McMunn in Kennett. He preceded her in death July 2, 1977. Survivors include two daughters, Marie Ball of Kennedale, Texas, and Lynda Sharpe of St. Louis; six sons, Carl McMunn, B. J. McMunn and Ed McMunn, all of Bonne Terre, Herschel McMunn of Tecumseh, Bob McMunn of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Gary McMunn of Cedar Hill; one sister, Imogene Gaultney of Crystal City; one brother, David Hedges of Paw Paw, Mich.; 20 grandchildren; 30 great- grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Hampton was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Ben Lomond, Ark. She was of the Baptist faith and a housewife. On Nov. 3, 1934, she married Charlie (Chuck) Hampton. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Kinney and Wilma Daniels, both of Qulin; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Carola/Berger Cemetery in Oglesville with the Rev. Gary Hancock officiating. She had been an Odessa resident since 1952. She attended the Church of God. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Allison, and two sons, Delmar Crane and Ray Lavern Crane, all of Odessa. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. C.E. Shuffield officiating. Johns, 87, of Qulin, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare-North Campus in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Jones was born June 4, 1915, in Reyno, Ark. He attended First Baptist Church of Qulin and was a self-employed handyman. He enjoyed playing guitar and piano and reported weather for Qulin to Channel 12 News at Cape Girardeau for 59 years. Survivors include several nieces and nephews and their families. Visitation will begin at 6 tonight at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Larry David Benton, 46, of Qulin, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Qulin (I am transcribing this as written - NOTE Larry died in Ore.- M.H.) Mr. Benton was born Nov. 21, 1956, in Blythesville, Ark. He lived part of his life in Qulin and attended Twin Rivers High School before going to Oregon. He has cerebral palsy all his life and was a member of the Easter Seals. He served as Grand Marshal in several Easter Seal parades and was giving and outgoing. He liked boats. Survivors include his parents. J.D. and Peggy Benton of Qulin; four brothers, Richard Benton of Turner, Ore., Gary Long and Jackie Benton, both of Qulin, and Ferlin Ferrell; seven sisters, Lavonda Brittion of Springfield, Ore., Eunice Brandon of St. Francis, Ark., Betty Ham, Susie Jones and Jeannie Benton, all of Qulin, Valerie Buchmier of Highland Ranch, Colo., and Brenda Goins of Poplar Bluff. Mr. Thomasson was born Sept. 18, 1923 at Fagus. He was a farmer and lived in the Fagus and Qulin area most of his life. Surviving are two brothers, Tilden Thomasson of Williamsville and Clarence Ward of Qulin; and three sisters, Wilma Atchison of St. James, Evanell Davis of Lemay and Lois Lambert of Pollard, Ark. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. today at the White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin and will continue until the funeral service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Gary Hancock officiating. Burial will be in the Qulin Cemetery ------------------------------------------------------------- Peggy Sutter Peggy Ann Sutter, 67, of Poplar Bluff died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at her residence. Mrs. Sutter was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Danville, Ill. A homemaker, she was of the Baptist faith. On Aug. 16, 1976 she married Charles W. Sutter in Kansas City, Kan. He survives. Other survivors include one niece, Wilma Shomaker of Qulin and one great- nephew, Charles Sutter of Qulin. The error was based on information furnished to the DAR. ------------------------------------------------------------- Pete Huneycutt Elvia "Pete" Huneycutt, 69, of Williamsville died Friday Dec. 12, 2003, at Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Huneycutt was born March 18, 1934 in Oglesville. He was of the Baptist faith and the retired owner and operator of a trash service. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to auctions. On Nov. 10, 1951, he married Lowanda Reed in Pocahontas, Ark. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Linda Nash and husband Jack of Wiliamsville; one son, Elvia "Butch" Huneycutt, Jr. of Williamsville; six grandchildren, Tara Huneycutt, Lowanda Nash Jones and husband Jason, Jennifer Nash Moore and husband Wesley, Elvia "Butch" Huneycutt, III, Joseph "Joey" Huneycutt and Dakota "Cody" Huneycutt and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Earline (Connelly) Huneycutt; his twin brother , who died 18 days after birth, and his sister, N. Lorraine Huneycutt Allen. He leave three sons, Glenn and Claudie of Lebanon, MO., and Charles of Battle Creek, Mich.; three step-daughters, Dolores Lancaster, Merel Chaney and Helen Scarborough of O'Dessa, Tex.; one grandson, Billy Dale McGee, now in the U.S. Marines; his mother, Ellen Van Glider of Marmaduke, Ark.; two step-brothers, John Van Glider of Dexter and Harvey Van Guilder of Marmaduke; a step sister residing in St. Louis and five grand-children. He lived alone in his home in Qulin and the body will be taken there this afternoon to remain until funeral time. He had been in poor health since January 1997. Mr. McClure was born April 4, 1934, in Qulin. He moved to Poplar bluff in 1968, and retired in April 5, 1996, form Boilermakers Local 27 in St. Louis. A charter member of the Eagles Lodge NO 3730, he was also a member of the American Legion Post NO. 153. On July 18 1959, he married Pat Eaker of Qulin. She survives. Survivors include one son, Marty McClure of Poplar Bluff; one daughter Claudia McClure of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Charles McClure of Broken Arrow, Okla,; and two grandchildren, Nikki and Zachary McClure of Poplar Bluff. One brother Glenn McClure preceded him in death on July 3, 1973. Visitation will be from 7 - 9 p.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. He was 45 years old. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday in the First Baptist Church, of which Mr. McClure was a member. the Rev. John Gilbert will officiate. Mr. McClure was an active member of the Democratic party and had formerly served as a member of the City Council. He was president of the Lenders Exchange, past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, a trustee of the Elks Lodge and a member of the American Legion. Mr. McClure was born Sept. 23, 1927, at Colorado City, Tex. He was married to the former Jamie L. Clark May 21, 1948, at Piggott, Ark. Mr. Craft was born Sept. 24, 1956 in Belleville, Ill. While living at Qulin, he attended Oglesville General Baptist Church. He was a construction worker. Survivors include his mother, Stella Kelley of Atwater, Calif.; his father and stepmother, Herbert and Betty Craft of Qulin; grandmother, Lavern Craft of Qulin; one daughter, Crystal Craft of Conway, Ark.; two sons, Colin Eugene Craft, Jr., of Greenbriar, Ark. and Christopher Craft of Qulin; three sisters, Debbie Davis and Helena DeGregoria, both of Merced and Barbara Black of Modesto, Calif. and one brother, Steven Craft of Markleville, Calif. Mrs. Ferrill was born July 19, 1926 in Pocahontas, Ark. and had lived around Qulin since 1945. She was a member of the Oglesville General Baptist Church and a homemaker. On Oct. 11, 1941, she married Rayford Ferrill. He preceded her in death June 5, 2001. Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Bulger of Qulin and Brenda Ferrill of Harviell; one son, James Ferrill of Doniphan; two sisters, Mary Kaiser of Troy and Georgia Henry of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; five grandchildren, David Bulger, Leslie Hurst, Jamie Ray Ferrill, Raymond Dale Ferrill and Michelle Butler; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Elizabeth Herndon; one son, Jimmy Dale Ferrill, and one grandson, Darren Ray Bulger. Mr. Martin was born Sept. 15, 1934 in Steele. He was a retired mechanic and farmer and had lived most of his life in Qulin. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Austin of Herculaneum and Debbie Mallard of Qulin; two sons, Jackie Hendrix of Qulin and Donald Hendrix of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Diane Brooks of Ellsinore and Phyllis Brown of Clarksville, Tenn.; two brothers, Perry Martin of Blytheville, Ark., and Bill Martin of Imperial; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was a longtime resident of Broseley and was of the General Baptist faith. she had worked as a youth specialist for the Division of Youth Services for the Missouri Department of Youth and enjoyed dancing and working with the children from the Sears Youth Center. On Jan. 21, 1944, she married Benny Backus in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death June 18, 1989. Survivors include three daughters, Joan Brixey and husband Mike of Gurnee, Ill., Judy Pratt and husband Jim of Overland Park, Kan., and Joyce Freeman and husband Gary of Qulin; three brothers, Donald Morehead of St. Louis, Dallas Morehead of Annapolis and Joe Morehead of Qulin; four grand children, Marshia Brixey of Stilwell, Kan., Jessica Hayes of Overland Park, Jeff Brixey of Gurney and Tara Freeman of Qulin; and one great-grand-daughter, Emily thatcher of Stillwell. Mr. Eastwood was born Nov. 24, 1930, in Qulin. He was a lifelong resident of Butler County and was a retired construction worker. Survivors include two brothers, Hartford Eastwood of Poplar Bluff and Howard Eastwood of Broseley; and two sisters, Faye Henderson and Frances Booker, both of Poplar Bluff. Mr. Piatt was born May 3, 1929 in Qulin. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Qulin First Baptist Church. On June 22, 1950 he married Mary Coble. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Myrtle Piatt, and three brothers, Curtis Piatt; Earl Piatt; and Bill Piatt. Survivors include one son, Steve Piatt and his wife Janet of Qulin; one daughter, Jacquilyn Vandergriff and her husband Bill of Billingsley, Ala; one brother, Dewey Piatt and his wife Sharon of Qulin; one sister, Elva Fredrick of Kennett; and one grandson, Ryan Vandergriff of Texas. Wright Jr., 70, of Qulin died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Wright was born Sept. 29, 1933, in Clay County, Ark. He had been a resident of Qulin for all of his life. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Poplar Bluff where he served as a Deacon and a member of various committees. He was chairman at the Qulin Homecoming parade and was a member of the Rainey Church Farm Board in Dexter. He was also a MFA delegate for several years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict and was a retired farmer who had been active in several agricultural activities including lobbying in Washington, D.C., to release the rice allotments. On March 14, 1953, he married Iris Prichard. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Lee Wright and wife Rose of Qulin; his mother, Eva Wright of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Gordon Wright of Farmington Hills, Mich.; two grandchildren, Christopher Wright and Casey Wright; two uncles, Charles and Franklin Wright, both of Qulin; and three aunts, Iolene Gibbs of North Richland Hills, Texas, Sylvia Maddox of Phoenix, Ariz., and Helen Daffron of Clearbrook, Fla.
