Decatur - Virgil Eugene "Geno" Kaylor, 76, of Decatur died 4:55 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) in St. Mary's Hospital.
Services will be a 1 p.m. Monday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Virgil was born June 12, 1927, in Illiopolis, the son of Coyne and Theresa Margaret Phelan Kaylor. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and had worked as a tool grinder with Marvel-Schebler/Borg_Warner Corp. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing, gardening, horse racing, trips to Biloxi, Miss., to play golf and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
He married Marjorie Ruth Siders on Oct. 14, 1947, in Dawson. She preceded him in death Nov. 16, 1984.
Surviving are his longtime companion, B. Joyce Betzer; sons, Bruce (Rhonda) Kaylor, Eric (Buena) Kaylor and Mark (Karen) Kaylor, all of Decatur; daughters, Bobbie (Frank Jr) Bell of Decatur; Kathy (Christopher) Barteck of Cerro Gordo; brother, Robert (Maryann) Kaylor of Illiopolis; 15 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Hospital IMC unit, respiratory therapist and the doctors who took care of him.
He found joy in life and gave much joy to many.
