John H. Bruntjen
John Harding Bruntjen, 65, of Illiopolis died at 3:27 a.m. Friday at St. John's Hospital.
Born in Harvel on Dec. 9, 1920, Mr. Bruntjen was the son of teh late John Gerhard and Mary Estelle Bruntjen. He graduated from the University of Illinois college of Commerce. He subsequently was employed as an accountant for International Harvester Co., Springfield. He sserved in World War II as a captain in the Transportation Corps in Europe and with occupation forces in Japan following D-Day.
A farmer and businessman int eh community of Illiopolis, Mr. Bruntjen served nine years on the Sangamon County Farm Bureau Board; was past presidetn of the Illiopolis School board and life member of Illiopolis Christian Church, serving as an elder and board member.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; two sons, John S. and Michael A., both of Illiopolis; three daughters, Gail E. Bruntjen of Estes Park, Colo., Rise L. Shears of Illiopolis and Carol A. Ruebner of Galesburg; one brother melvin of Raymond; three sisters, Margaret Bates of Raymond, Hazel Fogler of Taylorville, and Esther Crawford of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a. m. Monday at the Illiopolis Christian Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Dawson-Wikoff Funeral Home, Illiopolis, is in charge of arrangements.
