Bobbitt, William W.
...was born in Christian Co., Kentucky, Feb. 9,
1829. In 1834 he came with his parents to Illinois,
and settled in Hancock County, where he remained until
1844, when he removed to Tazewell County, and from
there to Putnam County, in March 1853. In September
1857, he married Jane Kays, of Putnam County, who
survives. Five daughters were born to them, four of
whom are still living, Mrs. Frank Funk, Etta, Mrs.
Frank Roberts, and Mrs. Richard Spencer. He united
with Sandy Creek Baptist Church in 1869, and remained
a faithful and consistent member until his death,
which occurred at his home in the village of Magnolia,
on June 24, 1897. His disease was thought to be
consumption of the stomach. His funeral was conducted
by Elder Smith Ketchum, and burial was in the Magnolia
village cemetery.
