CAERHAYES - Dedicated to St. Michael & All Angels

Vicarage - same as Goran

This fine old village church, dedicated to St Michael and All Angels can date its history to pre-Norman times, although what became the Norman Church was re-dedicated in 1259. Among many fine features of architecture, and wood, there are several tablets which between them help to mark the progressive history. There are also some fine examples of stained glass.

In the taxation of Pope Nicholas IV (AD 1291) there is mention of the church, when it was valued at £8:6s:8d and again in the Valor Ecclesiaticus of King Henry 8th in 1549, the value was put at £17:10s:6d. (There's inflation for you.)

Services:

The parish became a united benefice with St. Goran's several years ago, thus the priest is shared between the two parishes. On the 5th Sunday of any month when such occurs, there is a United Service which alternates between the two Parish Churches.
