WILLIAM SILFIES FOUND DEAD
William James Silfies, a jobber in the lumber woods, whose home is in Glen
Hazel, was found dead in the woods near Montmorenci this morning. We understand Mr.
Silfies started from his home in Glenn Hazel to walk over the hills to Montmorenci, where
he had a brother-in-law, Adam Day, living, and where he was to look at a farm with a view
to buying. Search was not made for him until this morning, his relatives thinking he had
gone somewhere else after finishing his errand at Montmorenci. A searching party found the
body of the unfortunate man this morning and the surroundings were such as to convince
them that he had taken shelter under a tree during the storm, and was struck and killed by
lightning. The deceased leaves a wife and several small children. He was probably forty
years of age and a brother of J. F. Silfies, the Glen Hazel merchant.
