Elmer J. Silveus
508 c.(3)

Elmer Silveus was born in Christian County, Illinois, on  17 July 1884, and died at Dover, Ohio, 10 September 1972.  He was the son of Nicholas J. Silveus and Caroline Fisher.

His grandfather was a Mennonite preacher.  At a young age he was converted and decided on the ministry.   He attended American Bible Institute in Indiana and the Moody Bible School in Chicago, Illinois.

He married Grace King, born 25 May 1884, and died 28 August 1955.  After their marriage, they moved to Randolph County, Arkansas, where Elmer was a part-time farmer and  preacher.  During his career, he was a teacher in missions in western states and Mexico, and worked in rehabilitation in penal institutions.

After his wife died in 1955, Elmer moved to Ohio to be near his   daughter, Mrs. John Phillabaum.  But even though he had reached retirement age, he continued to work in Missions, and helping the poor.  He sponsored a Bible class and non-denominational church services in the building where he lived at Dover, Ohio.

His obituary shows he was survived by a son, Samuel Silveus, of Cuyahoga Falls, and a daughter, Mary Phillabaum, of Dundee, Ohio, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
