Mabel V. Wirsing, 101, FIFIELD — Mabel V. Wirsing, age 101, died Tuesday, June
13, 2006 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls. She was born on November 21,
1904 in Minnesota, the daughter of Julius [should be Lewis]
and Annie (Varner) Dorman. Mabel moved with her
family to Brantwood and attended the Phillips Normal Teaching College and then
taught school in Brantwood. She moved to Milwaukee and then to Fifield. She was
active with the Fifield Congregational Church teaching Sunday School and was an
organist. She was a member of the Fifield American Legion Auxiliary, the
Colonial Dames Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Fifield
Cub Scouts.
She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie (Lee) Hunziker of Wisconsin Rapids; nine
grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 49 great-great-grandchildren; 12
great-great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Julius; her son Gordon
Wirsing; her daughter, Beatrice Briske; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the First
Congregational United Church of Christ in Fifield. Rev. Scot O’Connor will
officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Home Cemetery in Fifield.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the church and on Friday
from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
