*** I believe the William Bitts Jun of the 1786 deed is the same William in the tax list for Allegheny Twp. Perhaps this William Jun remained on the tax list because Westmoreland County did not know that the land was sold because the deed was not recorded until 1875, nearly 100 years later! Perhaps a deed search of the indices for a David Heston selling the land in both Westmoreland and Armstrong Counties would be the next step if someone wanted to pursue this. I did research the Betts in Bucks County and I placed him with a family there and this William Betts is not our William. He is not related to our Bitts family.
