Frederick Varner

Tax, census, patents and deeds list, Westmoreland County,
"New Purchase" register page showing Frederick's Application No. 667.  "On the North side of Youghiogane River about three & a half mile below the mouth of Jacobs Creek includ'g his Improv't"  62 Acres 47 Perches, Huntingdon Twp., Westmoreland Co.  Recorded (survey) A-62-47, A-62-46.  See surveys below.

Application No. 667 for 300 acres of Frederick Varner's Jacobs Creek property, 3 April 1769.  Christopher Hays later warranted the property 13 February 1787.  The township was Huntingdon.  Christopher Hays later patented the property 16 February 1787, Patent Book P-8-326.

Bill of Sale to Christopher "Weause," 15 July 1760.  [I believe there was a clerical error in the year.  Frederick can't sell his property before he even applies for it in 1769.]

Frederick "of Cumberland County, Province of Pennsylvania" [this was before the creation of Westmoreland County in 1773 so Cumberland County included a very large area].  Christopher Weause was "of Fredrick County, Colony of Virginia."  The land was situated on the North side of "Yough=Agaria river about two miles below the mouth of Jacobs Creek" for 15 pounds and for the penal sum of 60 pounds.  Recorded 25 July 1783, Vol. A p. 337.

1774-1789

Frederick and Margaret's children born in this 15 year period, at least the children baptized in Hempfield Township, Westmoreland Co., Pa.

Survey of "Colonel" Christopher Hays' land (A-62-46) surveyed 30 June 1782, situate on Youchegam River, Huntington Twp., Westmoreland Co., 300 acres 94 perches.

"App'n of Fred'k Werner brot to th Office the 17th Jany 1785 Settled for in order to Patent - but not being then done Mr Hays procured an Alteration to be made agreeable to which he claimed a Patent-see the annexed Draft"

Survey of Frederick's land (A-62-47) surveyed 1 September 1784.  This was Application No. 667.

"The ____ brot to the office 26 Jany 1787"

Deed of Frederick to Christopher Hays, 1 December 1786

Frederick sold to Christopher Hays for 15 pounds his interest in an Application and Order of Survey, No. 667, dated 3 April 1769, for 300 acres, obtained from the Land Office of Pennsylvania.  The land, including his improvement, was on Youch River.  Frederick sold this land to Christopher Hays by Bill of Sale dated 15 July "1768."  [I believe a clerical error on the part of the clerk, the year of the Bill of Sale was 1760 and even that date seems to be wrong.  I believe the date of the Bill of Sale should be 15 July 1783]

Frederick at some point moved north to Hempfield Township.  Frederick patented his Hempfield Township property 18 February 1797 which was originally warranted to John Love Taylor 6 September 1785.  Frederick's patent was called "Chester."  Patent Book 30 p. 310.

Sometime between 6 September 1785 and 18 February 1797, there should be a deed of John Taylor conveying Chester to Frederick Varner.  This information could be found on patent in Patent Book 30, p. 310.

Deed of Frederick to Conrad Byer of Mountpleasant Township, 15 May 1797.  This was the eastern half of Frederick's Hempfield Township property.
