(This "John" Varner was known as Bob Varner.  He was the son of Henry Varner and brother to "Cyclone Hen" Varner.  He is listed on page 417 of the "Varner" book by Janice Palmer.  (VIII, D.)  He was married to Reka Wetzig and they had 2 children.   Claudia Menzel)

August 31, 1922-- Under "Items of Local Interest"--Joe Wren, brother of Mrs. W. S. Varner and his daughter Mildred of Monticello were in Buffalo visitors on Sunday.

Brent Boyd (b. 23 Mar 1957) is the grandson of Homer Varner (1894-1956), the first child of Harry S. Varner (1873-1959) and Martha "Eva" Griffin (1876-1965). 

Brent is descended from William Bitts Varner (1830-1925). 

Brent played offensive guard for the Minnesota Vikings in 1980-1986.

 He has suffered some brain damage as a result of multiple concussions during his football career and is the founder of "Dignity After Football."
