His remains were rested at a cemetery at Antigonish, with those of his wife , who was a daughter of the late Hon. John McKinnon M.L.C. and five children who predeceased him. One son and one daughter mourn their loss.

(1-8) The sad intelligence of the death abroad of two young men from Williams Point, was received this week.
Colin MacFarlane, son of Alexander MacFarlane, died in New Jersey, the first of this past week. He had been ill of typhoid fever.

(2-8) Colin Francis MacFarlane, whose death at Jersey City, N. J., was referred to last week, was a son of Andrew MacFarlane, Williams Point. He left home a little (... not readable...) time in Philadelphia, in May last he began as a lineman with the American Telegraph & Telephone Co., New York. Four weeks before his death, he contracted typhoid fever and entered St. Francis Hospital, Jersey City in charge of the Sisters of Poor St Francis, where he had wonderful care and all the consolation of religion. He was a young man of excellent character, a strict total abstainer, and a great favorite with his acquaintances, who sincerely sympathized with his parents & relatives in his death at he early age of 24. His remains were brought home and interred here on Saturday last.
