GENERATION

8. ISAAC THOMAS "TOM" STEVENSON⁽¹³⁾ was born on 13 March 1839 in Tennessee. He died on 24 Oct 1898 at Crossroads Community, Bienville Parish, Louisiana. He was a farmer. The grave of Tom Stevenson was located by a deer hunter who jotted down the names, ect., in the tiny little cemetery and sent them in to the local genealogy column in the Shreveport Times. It is located about 1/2 mile behind the farm of Orrie Wiggins, near Crossroads Community, and S.E. of the old Love Lake Community. (1980) Buried there, (that we know of), are Tom and his wife Zilpha, two of their children, and two of their grandchildren. there may be more graves which were never marked. This was the homeplace of Tom and Zilpha.

Tom served in the Confederate Army. His records are listed as T.T., however, the T being mistaken for a I. He was a private, Co. E 4th La. Cav. He was a prisoner of war, and was paroled at Natchitoches, La.

We are fortunate enough to have photostatic copies of Tom's Bible records which were obtained by R. T. Stevenson from the old Bible owned by his stepmother, Georgia Pierce Stevenson. (1972) In it are:

9. Zilpha Ann SLEDGE was born on 23 Aug 1847 in Georgia. She died on 8 May 1878 in Red River Parish, Louisiana. ⁽¹⁴⁾ She is buried at the Stevenson-Hudson Cem. near Crossroads, La. Listed in the home of Milton D. Sledge in the 1850 Census, Bienville Parish, La. Age 3 years. Birth place listed as Georgia. Her Parents, and all brothers and sisters were listed as being born in Georgia.

Children were:

i. ELLEN DEBORAH "ELLA" STEVENSON was born on 20 Feb 1867. She died after 1909. Ella mar: Willis Hardy Hudson, ch: Martha A., Infant, Emma (Emaline ?), Joe Willis, Ada, Anna, Henry E., Ollie, Benjamin (Benny ?) 1900 Census.

v. HENRY EZRA STEVENSON was born on 31 Jan 1872. He was buried in Plesant Hill Cem., Natchitoches Parish, La. Ezra mar: Mary M. "Mollie" Garner sister of Sadie Ann Garner, who mar: James Wiley Rowell.
vi. NANCY ANN STEVENSON was born on 14 Nov 1874. She died on 4 Oct 1878. She was buried in Stevenson-Hudson Cem. near Crossroads, La..
vii. JUDEY OLLIE STEVENSON was born on 3 May 1876.
