The groom is actually Jesse Alfred COGGAN and he & Mary have at least 5 children born in Ontario, Maud Mabel 1883, Hester Ann 1880, Mary Elsie 1892, Frank Denby 1884, George Alfred 1888. They are all in Kingston in the 1891 census where Alfred is a carpenter. Religion was Salvation army. Surname was spelled Cogin
More Hunt stuff
There is only one Hunt "family" in Scotter/Scotton 1841 and that is William 50, and teenagers William & Mary.
In 1851 the children are in Scotton, both working in the household of Gravenor PROUDLEY
William HUNT is 26, unmarried, farm lab, b. Scotton
Mary HUNT of 25, unmarried, servant, b. Scotton
Gravenor PROUDLEY is 39, farmer, & his wife is Mary, also age 39
The Proudley children are Elizabeth 17, John 15, Edmond 12, Gravenor 9?, George 8 and Richard 7
[I forgot to look for William HUNT Sr.]
In 1861 William Sr. & Jr. HUNT are still in Scotton (District 3)
William HUNT, widower, 74, ag lab, b. Bishop Norton Lincs
William HUNT, 34, married, ag lab, b. Scotton Lincs
Mary HUNT, 27, married, b. Misterton Notts.
[this age of William, 74, would mean a birth year of about 1787 which is consistent with him being s/o John HUNT & Mary COGGAN]
Following William & Mary HUNT to the 1881 census:
They are now on Station Rd in Misterston Notts. where William is 50 and Mary is 45. With them is a visitor, Rebecca ROGERSON, age 3, b. Yorkshire Cliff Bridge Barnsley
[free BMD: March 1878 births Rebecca Rogerson, Barnsley vol 9c pg 213]
1891: They are at 65 Station Rd, William HUNT is 65 and Mary HUNT is 55. Rebecca ROGERSON is still with them, but now she is an adopted daughter, age 13.
1901: They are still at Station Road in Misterton, but with them this time is Sydney MONTAGUE, age 1, grandson, b. Misterton Notts. Rebecca is not there.
[FreeBMD June 1899 birth Sydney Montague, Gainsboro vol 7a pg 746]
[FreeBMD March 1898 marr Rebecca Rogerson/John Montague, Gainsboro 7a pg 1021]
[FreeBMD Sept 1905 death William Hunt, age 80, Gainsboro 7a pg 412]
The age of this William HUNT (74) in the 1861 census would mean a birth year of about 1787 which is consistent with him being s/o John HUNT & Mary COGGAN.... BUT....a birth place of Bishop Norton is problematic.... SO... in the 1851 census there is also a William HUNT, age 63, born Lincs Scotton, schoolmaster, living in Gringley Nottinghamshire. Both Gringley on the Hill and Misterton are very close to Scotter/Scotton
The IGI (online) has William HUNT, chr Bishop Norton 14 May 1786, s/o Edward HUNT and Ann. It is interesting that he ends up in Scotter/Scotton AND that in the 1841 census there is a Mary COGGAN in the same household. A possibly related Hunt line?
The IGI has William HUNT chr Scotton 3 May 1787, s/o John HUNT & Mary which is the family that we are looking for. Therefore, the William HUNT in Gringley in 1851 looks like a better"fit" and this is what I have found on census records about this 2nd William HUNT.
1841 census, Gringley on the Hill, Notts.
William HUNT, 50, schoolmaster, not born Notts
Mary HUNT, 50, not born Notts
John HUNT, 23, tailor, b. Notts
Susanna HUNT, 13, born Notts

and also,
John BARROWCLIFF, 25, butcher, b. Notts
Mary BARROWCLIFF, 25, b. Notts
Louisa BARROWCLIFF, 5 months, b. Notts
[FreeBMD Sept 1839 marriage John Barrowcliff/Mary Hunt EastRetford vol 15 pg 651]
[FreeBMD June 1840 death Mary Barrowcliff Gainsboro vol 14 pg 229]
1841 census Gringely Notts.
William HUNT, head, marr, 63, schoolmaster, b. Lincs Scotton
Mary HUNT, wife, marr, 62, schoolmistress, b. Lincs Scotter

John is still with Inland Revenue.
A third child, Frank B. HUNT is 8 (b. Manchester)
